Liquid-filled window tinting   (+7, -2)  [vote for, against]
Grind glass and pour liquid into it

In some states tinting your car windows beyond a certain level of darkness is illegal.

But with liquid tinted windows, you can adjust the level of the tinting, the height of the tint, and even change the color and intensity of the tint.

The hollow windows, made as a composite sandwich, have controllable access valves with flexible tubing leading to them.

The basic model tint reservoir contains a black liquid base and a recyclable clear adjuster liquid.

The deluxe model tint reservoir contains a pallette of colors, but will require periodic refilling if you persist in custom mixing, which requires dumping instead of recycling.

Of course, the customizing crowd will fabricate complex window sandwiches for that stained glass look.

For the ultimate in liquid bling, you could fill the void with Dom Perignon. Admittedly, the tinting effect would be fairly minor, but the bubbles would look cool.

[21], those links reference flipping a switch, without spelling out the exact mechanism. It appears to be modern materials.

This idea proposes to accomplish this with old fashioned pigments and liquids. Hydraulics at it's most artistic.

[jtp], I like the bubbles, but I'll have to turn the air conditioner up high, or rather down low. Also, the temptation to have the window drain into a flute in the beverage holder is high.

No, I just have a piece of cardboard I put in the upper third of my driver's side window, and I wanted something...juicier.

OK, I'm going out on a limb here and stating that the multi-color option, the absence of any energy collection function, and the automotive as compared to household function makes this a different idea.

But I'll fold if I get enough peer pressure.

"Yes officer, a deer ran out in front of me and I swerved into a tree"

"Ok that's fine Mr .... hang on, what's that? You stink of alcohol, your coming with me."

"No, you don't understand, it's my Cristal windscreen, please, don't tase me bro"

Yesterday I was driving home, with ethanol based hand-sanitizer spilled all over the floor of the car. I was really hoping not to get pulled over, and then I realized that due to wavy grooves cut into the half-completed road surface, I was swerving like a lush on Tuesday. And I didn't have my license with me because I forgot it when I changed into my swimsuit.

It was a situation with potential.

a liter! dear God!

Everclear is designed for mixing, yes? Like you dump a liter of it into a trash can full of kool-aid, or something?

Drinking it straight would be extremely caustic to your esophagus and stomach, even if you used it in moderation.
