Allow embedded hyperlinks in annotations that link to other annotations on the same page.
Useful where there are many annotations, including several by the same contributor.

A simpler suggestion: simply number the annotations consecutively. This could be done automatically. If an annotation is deleted, no matter - the later ones don't change their numbers and you just have some numbers that aren't there.
If this were done, you could just refer to "Anno {14}" or whatever.
It might look cluttery, which would be a shame. Sounds like a stitch-up…-- 8th of 7, May 22 2011 The way to do this, if it turned out to be something to do, is to make the date text that appears next to the username at the end of the annotation into a clickable "permalink" using anchor tags and an auto- generated auto-numbering sequence count based on how many annotations have already been created on an idea.
Thus, the HTML code that would appear for the date on my first annotation at the top of this idea would look something like this:
<a href = "http:// www.halfbakery.com/idea/ Links_20to_20annotations#1" >May 17 2011</a>
...which when clicked would take you directly to that annotation, even if linked from another page.
The simplest way to handle auto-generated count is to use part of the date/time stamp for the anchor handle. This will maintain the chronological sequence.
This set-up does nothing for situations when there are several annotations by the same contributor, but as [8th of 7] only demonstrated the potential to explain the reasons for that, we have to disregard that for now.
