logic blocks that have lights on or off depending on their output.
There was an idea kind of similar to this but it involved external memory and quite a bit more complexity. The LED lights need electricity flow to monitor the activity. In computers there was a time before software. Transistors can kind of be thought of as a switch for the flow of electricity. Think of it as a valve that shuts off water flow if the pipe coming in on the side has pressure in it. With two of these in a row you have a nand. A nand circuit can also be used to make any logic circuit
From here you can go in two directions pure logic or electrical engineering direction. The whole thing is electrified for the LED lights you can hide the details of splitting and signal strength. You can buy them separately or in the big pack.
Pack one: counting logic. count in binary for each integer you want about 20 transistor type logic circuits and you can simplify them of course into modules a fantastic display of lights Modules would have different color based on their common logic classification
Pack two: binary addition
Pack three: binary multiplication
Deluxe pack: Tetris, the game I think is made for hard wiring
Just like legos there are charts showing how to make something and there is always your imagination.-- MercuryNotMars, Feb 05 2009 buy Loncoln logs here http://lincolnlogs.knex.com/So you don't get the name? [MercuryNotMars, Feb 08 2009] "Lincoln" as in "Abraham", or as in "Ford Motor Company"?
[MnM] Punctuation is good. Try it, you may like it.-- AbsintheWithoutLeave, Feb 06 2009 Since colored LED's besides red are relatively new, that makes my idea all original still. But seriously, The concept isn't far removed from every experiment kit out there just encapsulated I am imagining square blocks with release buttons on the corners and holes in the faces to put the connections in, something to make all the connections sure and simple. Every connection is hooked to the grid so there are 6 available slots to make either an input or an output depending on the connection direction.
I am surprised I did not get complimented on the name. Lincoln logs are a construction toy. It is mainly for building log cabin style houses they are logs with notches that stack wonderfully. Why make another play on Legos. I guess it is before your time or outside of your country. The answer is Abraham Lincoln who probably lived in a log cabin.-- MercuryNotMars, Feb 08 2009 I liked those lillies.
Often, a more limiting toy prompts greater creativity on the part of the player.-- ye_river_xiv, Feb 08 2009 I thought it was Washington that was famous for creating (cherry) logs?-- AbsintheWithoutLeave, Feb 08 2009 I thought Lincoln logs followed a normal logarithmic pattern, but suddenly ceased to exists after an interval.-- 4whom, Feb 08 2009 //I am surprised I did not get complimented on the name// My compliments on the name. Looking at your link, I suspect Lego would be more versatile, and easier to make, but if you can make a Tetris log cabin, fantastic!-- MadnessInMyMethod, Feb 09 2009 I didn't actually think you thought I was suggesting that they be shaped and perform like lincoln logs in their three dimensional construction. Now that I assume that your first anno become readable.
What is this anno though [WcW]?-- MercuryNotMars, Feb 10 2009 random, halfbakery
