There should be neon running lights underneath tractor trailers. These running lights would be in different colors to identify cargo. This should only be required of trucks carrying volitile cargos. I don't think those little diamond warning things are enough. Maybe this would at least give the feeling that driving is safer.-- Space-Pope, Mar 25 2004 lets was this a safe one to crash into? http://www.wreckede...eird/weird163.shtml [engineer1, Oct 04 2004, last modified Oct 21 2004] Another idea based on hazmat trucks... http://www.halfbake...idea/HazMat_20Bingo(blatant self promotion) [krelnik, Oct 04 2004, last modified Oct 05 2004] Kind of useless during the daytime-hours ...-- Letsbuildafort, Mar 25 2004 But in the daytime hours, you can actually see the little diamond thingys.-- Freefall, Mar 25 2004 Thats right. Which means I would pay as much attention at night to a truck's load as I do during the day ...-- Letsbuildafort, Mar 25 2004 So you know which trailers are safe to crash into?-- kropotkin, Mar 25 2004 Zackly.-- Letsbuildafort, Mar 25 2004 This so calls for a link, now do i go for neon lights or crashes?...-- engineer1, Mar 26 2004 Why don't you just light up the warning placards? Easier and cheaper than giant beer signs driving down the road.-- Nitehawk, Mar 26 2004 There are hundreds of different numbers used on those "little diamond warning things", are you going to have hundreds of different colors? Or are you just going to use one color for each hazard class? If so you need a color for each of these:
Class 1 - Explosives Class 2 - Gases Class 3 - Flammable liquids (and Combustible liquids in US) Class 4 - Flammable solids; Spontaneously combustible materials Class 5 - Oxidizers and Organic peroxides Class 6 - Toxic* materials and Infectious substances Class 7 - Radioactive materials Class 8 - Corrosive materials Class 9 - Miscellaneous dangerous goods
(These are the smaller numbers that is shown at the very bottom of the diamond shaped sign).-- krelnik, Mar 26 2004 Yea I think I agree - just light up the sign -- thats all you need.-- britboy, Mar 26 2004 random, halfbakery
