This backhoe would have two arms, each shaped as the mirror image of the other. Each scoop would be either left or right handed. This would allow the controller to have a more intuitive feel for the machine. Maybe they could study the way moles dig and copy the anatomy and the motion.-- JesusHChrist, Oct 20 2012 Hmmm, it might be better to have a telehandler type device for each hand so you could control both scoops simultaneously. Digging and scooping seems more natural with two hands than one so this design would be quicker for new operators to learn. (the downside for having both hands occupied is that it always makes my nose itchy) [+]-- AusCan531, Oct 20 2012 An invertable telehandler arm (and, of course, the telehandler control scheme) would definitely be the way to go. It's difficult enough learning how to handle one excavator scoop, and you need both hands to do it.-- Alterother, Oct 21 2012 ^what [Ao] said though, unless you're prone to smacking the "elbow" joint on things, it doesn't need to be invertable, just straight mapping to shoulder, elbow, wrist. But I don't think it's a good idea safetywise [-]-- FlyingToaster, Oct 21 2012 random, halfbakery
