I was at a friends home and was told to search the "Junk Drawer" for some item on their behalf. Everyone has a junk drawer right? This is a global thing that around the world, if you have a kitchen, you have a junk drawer.
The contents of this particular drawer were so perfectly organized that I have been upset about it for days. It has occurred to me that some people are incapable of being messy and might need some help. It has also occurred to me that my friend has a real problem with their brain matter.
So I have this vision of a whole universe of products that help neat freaks maintain a human level of disorganization.
Starting with two types of Drawer De-organizer devices. TYPE 1: The first one is a simple bar that fastens to the underside of the cabinet frame. Imagine a U-shape with feet made of metal or plastic. Every time you open the drawer the bottom of the U-shaped bar drags across the bottom of the drawer disturbing everything.
TYPE 2: The second type of De-organizer device would be sold in a spy gear catalog. This is the malicious type. You notice that someone is too neat and organized. You drop this thing in their Drawer and it goes to work. Think battery powered ZUZU pet type of thing (its a kids toy-mechanical hampster) but with some real traction power.-- vfrackis, Jan 28 2010 NOOOOOO000000ooooo!-- leinypoo13, Jan 28 2010 Yessssss! Also, for couples who are just setting up home together, and are unsure if the marriage will last long enough to populate a junk drawer, how about "Junk Drawer Drawer Junk" - sold by the kilo, in a sort of pot-luck bag. Contents may include birthday cake candle holders, radiator bleed keys, rubber bands, broken fridge magnets, boltless nuts and nutless bolts, paperclips, fluff-covered Blu-tac, ball-point pens, non- working digital pedometers, etc etc etc.-- MaxwellBuchanan, Jan 28 2010 Bun city-- pocmloc, Jan 28 2010 That competitors have to run through.-- rcarty, Jan 28 2010 Brilliant. There'll be shops selling this. They will have to keep the defective stock somewhere though. You guessed it, in the junk junk drawer drawer junk drawer.-- DenholmRicshaw, Jan 29 2010 there are those people in front of me in the supermarket who line everything up in order of height and colour and quite possibly alphabetically and in rows of mathematical precision. oh, how I wish I could mess with that!-- po, Jan 29 2010 Is stacking the dishes so exactly that they minimize contact and maximize evaporation as detestable an act as organizing a junk drawer?-- daseva, Jan 29 2010 Ladies who wear drawers might disagree, [ian].-- pocmloc, Jan 29 2010 Thanks blissmiss!
Also 21 my de-organizer could snap onto your re-organizer i can't stop thinking about the purpose such a device would serve, or a category of devices that disorganize only to then reorganize? feels good to think about-- vfrackis, Jan 29 2010 Careful, [vf], you're teetering on the cusp of Anentropic engines/Perpetual motion there.

(I have 3 junk drawers in the kitchen!!) I would like a string-detangler and screw matcher-upper, too.-- xandram, Jan 29 2010 random, halfbakery
