From what I've read of aerogels, almost any kind of gel can be turned into one. Logically, this could be applied to Jello gelatin, producing an extremely low calorie food.
Of course, given the hygroscopic nature of most aerogels, I suspect that chomping on a large piece of AeroJello would dry your mouth out, but since aerogels are most easily manufactured in thin sheets, that's not a big concern.-- goldbb, Feb 16 2010 Open Source Aerogels http://www.aerogel.org/DIY aerogels [afinehowdoyoudo, Feb 16 2010] aeroJello?-- afinehowdoyoudo, Feb 16 2010 What else would you call it?-- goldbb, Feb 16 2010 Aello

It's a brand name of gelatin. Of course, this could be done just as easily with other brands of gelatin besides Jello; for that matter, it could also just as easily be done with jelly.-- goldbb, Feb 17 2010 You'll need a faster curing process, methinks.-- daseva, Feb 18 2010 random, halfbakery
