Halfbakery: Idea: Generator
Inventionizer (a website)   (+1)  [vote for, against]
Gives suggestions to inspire inventions

Check out Boardgamizer [link]. I'm proposing that, but for inventions.

It would have columns for technologies incorporated, purpose field, business model (optional), and maybe more. Each time you run the generator, it gives you one or more random thing per column. You can also filter what categories you want it to pick from in each column.

Example outputs:

- electric motor, hardened glass, telescope; motorsports

- iridescence or structural color, wire; household cleaning; crowdfunding

- REST API, injection molding; workplace ergonomics

- clay, video game, audio recording; environmental remediation; donation, sales of recycled product

This would inspire many halfbaked ideas, and would also give me somewhere to send people who ask questions like [link].

I'm not suggesting you construct businesses and products out of buzzwords, just as Boardgamizer doesn't ask you to construct board games out of buzzwords. They're just inspiration to help you come up with your own ideas. It's perfectly fine if your resultant invention lacks relation to some or even all of the buzzwords you received.

And my examples might be more buzzword-heavy than we'd like, just because that's what I happened to think up. Please suggest more examples if you'd like to.

eradicate redundant radiator with irrelevant rubber reductionist rant

That definitely helped me write this annotation.

Now baked (in a simpler form) by davedarko: [link]

I was originally envisioning, and had thought I had put in the description, that it would use Halfbakery categories, but I guess I didn't.

I sort of tried this, at least within biology/biotech, using lists of words and a random phrase generator. It was quite surprisingly interesting.

And you could broadcast the output on collage radio!

Moved to more appropriate category that I just discovered.

I think it should automatically crowdsource micorfunding, to fedex copies of its ideas to people that already have licensed patents, as a cheap form of technology transfer
