Imaginary Library   (+1)  [vote for, against]
D.I.Y. building to host a locality's collective imagination

In the Imaginary Library you can find blank books of all shapes and sizes. Members of the library are invited to take out a book, and if they wish write/draw anything before bringing it back within 3 weeks. Books are communal over time or can be 'fully imagined' for a fee.

Wipeable strips on bookshelves can be written on to imagine genres or anything else. In the Imaginary Library you can also find re-writeable DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, newspapers and a designated play area for imaginary friends.

You do realise this is liable to simply result in a very extensive collection of penis pictures of the sort traditionally found on public lavatory walls don't you?

Yeah we've come to realise that. Staff do monitor returns but it's a problem I admit.

Would they be on the shelves under "representational art " or "illustrated political biography " ?

Isn't one's imaginary library uploaded to public domain on one's famous death. If it is found?

Maybe with a game or contest motif to stimulate some actual sequiturial work. Me thinks this library would suck at the start but with a large number of contributors and 0.5, 0.75 full it would start to know-ball. Maybe, At the start, just call for work until a good lending threshold is reached.

If I'm reading aright that's entirely within the purview of the library's most recent customers.
