Cell phone's appear to be used for three architypical conversations:
1) Where are you? - I'm over here. 2) Where do you want to meet? - Dunno, where do you want to meet? 3) I'm gonna be late.
Seems like lots of distracting in-car conversations could be avoided by having an "I'm Gonna Be Late" button on the phone. Press a speed dial, press the "IGBL" button, and you are home free. Advanced phones might allow the numeric keypad to enter a number of minutes/hours/days/years you are planning on being delayed.-- tspyz, May 06 2002 So, instead of being distracted by pressing one button, then talking through your hands free kit, you are distracted by entering strings of numbers on a keypad? Better still, phone before you leave.-- yamahito, May 06 2002 I guess having this voice-based rather than text-based would make it a new invention. Just pick "late" and dial a number, and the device waits for it to be answered and speaks your message. Like voice mail in reverse (ugh).
It's certainly common with preset text messages though, as Rods says.-- pottedstu, May 07 2002 Voicemail in reverse? Telemarketers would have a field day...-- yamahito, May 07 2002 random, halfbakery
