Holiday Specific Fireworks Muffling Headgear For Dogs   (+2, -2)  [vote for, against]
The switchable hats match the holiday, 4th of July, New Years etc.

1- Take a dog that's afraid of fireworks.

2- Take a sound muffling head wrap that's commonly used to help deaden the sound to calm the dog.

3- Put a velcro attachment on the top of it so the included array of holiday specific hats can be attached to the ear muff thing.

4- Dog's calmer and dressed for the occasion.

This would be a big one. [doctorremulac3, Jul 05 2024]

I'd probably take a half hour to draw the lower drawing. http://www.ironstraw.org/buildart01.htm
Might take me 40 to 50 seconds to describe it to a computer based drawing system. [doctorremulac3, Jul 06 2024]

4,000 units sold in the last month! https://www.amazon....ZXRhaWxfdGhlbWF0aWM
Probably because of the 4th of July. I sell a hat attachment accessory kit for these I'd be worth billions, maybe trillions. First step to do this is shopping for my private island. [doctorremulac3, Jul 06 2024]

Me hearing that my cat actually drowned in the neighbor's pool, didn't run away. https://lovescpar.s...tails/79952529.html

Okay, changed the design. I think it could have different motifs that you could roll into place for different holidays by turning it inside out. Although the hats might be enough.

Could also do wigs. Too much?

Very clear, there are earmuffs, there are hats but not together. This is unique and useful. It takes a utilitarian device and makes it fun.

Are you asking what the difference between adding a cute hat and glitter is? Tell you what. Go ask a dog owner if they’d buy the earmuff with the hat’s attachment, then watch the look on their face when you ask if they’d buy it if it just had glitter.

“Do you buy earmuffs for your dog?”

“Yes, as many people do, these are huge sellers, my dog freaks out during the 4th of July and New Years.”

“Would you buy it if it featured glitter?”

“Huh?”

I would actually pay to see that comedic exchange.

Who'd of thought that, of all jobs, 'artist' would be the first AI taken one?

You are the muse.

Guess I hurt a1's feelings and got a booboo bone.

2 Fries, yea, I'm afraid the graphic artist occupation is dead and the job of design illustrator is on the way out.

I say this as somebody who was a draftsman as a teenager, and a very good one. I showed a building blueprint to my ex wife once and she said "You did not draw that." and I had to show her my name on the corner. (The engineer, architect, draftsman, electrician etc would be listed in the lower right hand corner.)

I was good, but there was no such thing mediocre draftsmen, you either could accurately draw the structure and associates systems or you couldn't, but it took a lot of time, you were at that drafting board all day. Soon you'll just specify what you need, give the numbers and you're done. Need to change? Five seconds to make the change.

Example, I'd need to draw an 6" slab on grade with a 12" stub wall and 1/2" rebar grid every 12". Probably take about a half hour to draw the linked drawing by the time you shade in all the necessary materials with their associated legend patterns, drew all the measurement lines and arrows, notation, etc. In my later teen years all those skills were rendered useless when I started using a TRS-80 to make my drawings on a computer, so the pencil skills I developed were useless.

But now even inputting drawings on a computer is gonna be history when I can say "Draw a 40 x 50 6" slab on grade with etc etc." In the time it takes me to verbally describe a house for instance, plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC and ductwork, framing etc, it's drawn. Maybe... ten minutes of talking?

Hell, you'll be able to say "Draw me a 2,500 foot ranch style house." which will pop up in a half second with every detail, every beam, nail hole, conduit, plumbing line etc all in place and you'll just tweak it.

Or not.

Probably already out there for all I know. So yea, the only business I'd tell a young person to stay away from, as somebody who had a job skill rendered useless by technology, that of a draftsman, don't get a degree in graphic arts or technical illustration. That's being replaced.

I think you care too much about things, like seeing somebody having fun and trying to wreck it.

Obsessively.

Stepdad took our dog to a firework show once. Worst mistake with the loud booms.

Good thought, but I'm not sure they would tolerate putting anything on their ears for very long. As well as dogs hear, I wonder how effective they'd be.

This is a whole world I didn't know existed, dog noise stress. Was talking to a couple of dog owners yesterday, one of whom said there's a dog Xanax you give them to get them through fireworks and thunderstorms. No, I'm not kidding. Check the link to the wrap around version of mutt muffs or whatever they're called. Look at those sales numbers. Eh, maybe just the one muffler with the Velcro top and the hats. Might even have them wrap around the mitt muff with colors that match the hat. Help keep it on too.

I'm going to look at just having a kit that puts the hats on the existing dog muffs. Amazon would put that under as "Often purchased with the above item." It's not beyond the realm of possibility I could become a novelty dog hat mogul, which frankly has been my dream since childhood.

During a thunder storm our chihuahua/Jack Russel terrier chases the booms barking to keep them away from us.

Her name is Peanut...

...destroyer of worlds, and eardrums. That's her last-name.

She turned thirteen in February so... we don't have too long left with her but I have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that she would put herself between me and any critter you can name.

She will be remembered.
-- 2 fries shy of a happy meal, Jul 07 2024

I hope you get a few more years with Peanut.
-- doctorremulac3, Jul 09 2024

She got crunched two weeks ago. A larger fellow bought two bags of ice and she was just under his foot as he turned to leave. He kept trying to lift his foot as he tried to also keep his cranium from smacking into the pavement but she got smeared no matter how he tried to lift his foot.
Later that day a large dog which should have been on leash thought she was a ground hog and it was not a good day for Peanut- Destroyer Of Worlds.

She's okay, but hasn't barked in two weeks.

I think she's just had her first brush with mortality. That's not bad for a thirteen year old dog.
-- 2 fries shy of a happy meal, Jul 10 2024

I'd think if she made it through a couple of weeks she's probably healed from any physical trauma no? If she's walking and sleeping okay maybe the not barking is just an age thing that was triggered?

I think I was in my 30s when I was having dinner at my parents house and my mom forgot the cover story I was told about my cat running away when I was about ten and said "Well, I know when Beansworth (my cat) drowned in the neighbor's pool it was very sad." And I'm like "What?" Then she gets this "oops" look on her face and says "Oh, I'm sorry honey, I forgot we told you he ran away. I'm so sorry sweetie." After a moment of adjustment I was like "It's okay mom, you were thinking about my feelings. Don't worry about it."

Decades later and it was still a punch to the gut. Had a look on my face like Sonny from this scene from the Godfather. (link)
