For bad headaches, one of the best things (in addition to good ol' Excedrin) is to put an ice pack on the place that hurts the most. The problem is keeping the pack in the right place. So...what about a "bonnet" that kept the cold where you want it? It could be made of terry-cloth, with pockets in various places (back, top, temples, ets.) and you could insert re-usable frozen gel-packs in the pocket(s) that you need when you get a headache. Then tie (or velco) the hat on, and you can sit on the couch or make dinner or roll over in bed without losing the benifits of the ice pack. It might look a little silly, but when you have a bad migrane, looks aren't the first thing on your mind.-- missyroo, Aug 13 2001 Headache Mask http://www.hallowee...s4u.com/rub3138.htm [EvoketheTiger, Aug 13 2001, last modified Oct 21 2004] Headache Mask http://www.painreliever.com/sinus.htmlWait that wasn't it. [EvoketheTiger, Aug 13 2001, last modified Oct 21 2004] You could have them in a range of novelty masks - like maybe a gorilla head. Then when you come home from prison and you see your wife/husband in the corner wearing a gorilla head - you will know they have a bad headache and should be left alone.-- benfrost, Aug 13 2001 benfrost - how about varying the ferocity of the animal head wrt the intensity of the headache? rabbit = mild niggle; leopard = pounding nightmare-- stupop, Aug 13 2001, last modified Aug 15 2001 The benefits of ice packs for a headache are dubious at best (in my humble experience as a migraine sufferer).-- bristolz, Aug 13 2001 What the heck is a 'niggle leopard'?
Some people seem to benefit from icepacks, bristolz...A similar discussion going on on one of the newsgroups I read and several people mentioned they helped. As I understand it, people who suffer from them will do pretty much anything to get away from the pain...-- StarChaser, Aug 13 2001 Post this in the Health section of HB; the Other section is for things like 'ear shaped hearing aids'. Have a nice day, and enjoy your headache.-- reensure, Aug 14 2001 [admin: moved to Health: Pain.]-- jutta, Aug 14 2001 I think there is a headache mask product which does a similar thing. It may not be as attractive as a bonnet but it probably has the same purpose.-- EvoketheTiger, Aug 14 2001 The sinus mask shown in the link is good...if sinus headaches are the problem. Mine start in the back of my head and go around the sides to my temples. That is why I was thinking of something that would cover the whole head. It is the only thing that really helps when they are really bad.-- missyroo, Aug 14 2001 Anything nto get rid of a headache-- DesertFox, May 10 2004 random, halfbakery
