People paying attention to their texting-device sometimes step off curbs or crash into walls unexpectedly while walking. This device simply takes a live image from the cell phone's camera, and makes it the background image moving behind the text. Then you'll see that open manhole before you step.-- lurch, Nov 20 2007 It's here... http://lifehacker.c...etting-hit-by-a-car [Jinbish, Jul 29 2009] (?) Legislation instead? http://technolog.ms...texting-and-walkingDammit, I *tried* to keep this from happening! [lurch, Jan 26 2011] (?) It's gone viral now. http://www.youtube....watch?v=mg11glsBW4Y [2 fries shy of a happy meal, Jan 27 2011] Genius. [+]-- jtp, Nov 20 2007 Good idea.-- MisterQED, Nov 20 2007 The fact that I don't understand _texting_ from a _telephone_ with a perfectly good speaker and microphone setup does not make this a bad idea.
Apparently some people really would rather thumb their way through elaborate typing mechanisms using six buttons in esoteric combinations, taking twelve and a half minutes to form a three-word message than just call and say it. So, OK.-- globaltourniquet, Nov 20 2007 Texting is good for private conversations. Good for loud places too, where you can't hear. But most of the time I want to slap the phone out of peoples hands. With the "chocolate" slide phone, you can smack the top mid text and it will close and erase the text. Hah.-- rascalraidex, Nov 20 2007 /People paying attention to their texting-device sometimes step off curbs or crash into walls unexpectedly while walking. //
I'd hate for this to be stopped before I get a chance to witness it.-- phundug, Nov 20 2007 Well, then, [phundug], maybe you should look up ;)-- lurch, Nov 21 2007 WTF, THIS IS FUBAR, TTY(a)L-- evilpenguin, Nov 21 2007 //We might even have to bring back the console window.//
Bring back? It never left! I use it every day.

And they deserve it. "lk ware u goin m8"-- webfishrune, Nov 23 2007 This kind of phone needs a proximity sensor (vibration?) for when you hold it too close to your face.-- reensure, Nov 27 2007 random, halfbakery
