This is a clothes hanger with 20 "beads" on it labeled "1" to "20". Similar to the scoring system on an old-time pool table, you slide a bead from one side of the wire to the other side every time you wear the article.
Then you know when to wash it. You are also forewarned so you don't suddenly have to throw 10 shirts into the laundry all on the same day, and end up left with no clean ones.
(P.S. it goes up to 20, but fastidious people don't need to wait that long, obviously!)-- phundug, Jun 28 2003 Well, I could only fit 10 beads without it looking weird http://bz.pair.com/fun/hangercus10.jpg[~10Kb image] [bristolz, Oct 04 2004] Only twenty?-- k_sra, Jun 28 2003 If you're wearing your clothes 20 times before washing them, I'm a little surprised you're counting at all.-- DrCurry, Jun 28 2003 Jeans, maybe three times. Everything else, once. Except for a sturdy pair of short|s (pants) which only get worn while 'baking. Those I'll wear for a week.-- thumbwax, Jun 29 2003 Might be more useful for total usage.<spouse, frowning>Hmm, I gave him this shirt four years ago, and he's worn it twice. I guess he won't miss it if I put it in the charity collection</frownwife>-- lurch, Jun 29 2003 I was hoping for some sort of circus in the sky, but this will do as well.-- RayfordSteele, Jun 29 2003 how illuminating!-- po, Jun 30 2003 How about a device that lets me know I've worn this already this week? I never seem to remember...-- k_sra, Jun 30 2003 _I'm_ Hangercus!-- bungston, Jun 30 2003 Can I get them built into my floor?-- my face your, Jun 30 2003 Good idea, but update it. Benetton got into a media relations problem with this idea, but it would work for you at home - put a chip into the clothes, and a scanning device in the closet. It could automatically keep track of how often the item went into and out of the closet.
It could then email your cleaner, and they could come pick up the clothes when they needed to be washed.-- Xoebe, Jul 01 2003 Didn't Hangercus lead the great sock revolt? Legend has it that he still tries to emancipate socks crushed under the heel of the empire, but usually only frees one at a time.-- 2 fries shy of a happy meal, Jul 01 2003 What happened to the sniff test?-- JRandMoby, Jul 01 2003 Some people's sniffers are less sensitive than others, especially if they live with mounds of rotting laundry.-- RayfordSteele, Jul 01 2003 This would also help all that fashion-concerned people who care a lot about not being seen wearing the same clothes very often.
With this they'd have a quick visual aid to konw what to avoid when they're picking their outfit for the day.-- Pericles, Jul 01 2003 Hmm, I thought it was going to be a hanger that put you down for picking out clothes that clash <hanger> 'what you're going to wear that with those?' Could be more useful for people with no sense of style, the blind and teenagers.
P.S. 'your bum looks big in that.'-- scubadooper, Jul 02 2003 You should do what miners do and get a canary. When the canary falls over dead, you know it's time to do the laundry.-- DrCurry, Jul 02 2003 [phundug]... 20x... <ick>
But, yes, perhaps some kind of barcode laundry label so I could track what I'd worn, patterns and similar.
On second thoughts... why?-- FloridaManatee, Jul 03 2003 Heh. A blow down under, [UB].-- bristolz, Jul 03 2003 I took it as a compliment from [UB] ;)-- silverstormer, Jul 03 2003 Thanks for the pic, [bris]!
