Halo generating hat   (+3)  [vote for, against]
It's Sunday, and I need an image lift

In the old old pictures you can always tell who's been really really good, by the ring of light floating above their heads. Well, since the technology has been lost, and I feel the need to at least appear to have been good, I decided a halo generator needs to be developed.

This idea has passed through several design phases - the Magnetically Contained Toroidal Plasma halo; the neon tube halo; the Moebius Strip paper halo (has a good side, and that's all) and even the somewhat undersized Magnetically Levitated Handcuff halo.

The one I finally decided on, however, is the Stable Vortex Smoke halo. Three metallic bands form a double layer truncated cone; a small battery operated fan inside the cone generates the air motion which results in a stable vortex, about eight inches across, hovering about five inches above the head. A small smoke generator feeds two tubes attached to the surface of the divider cone; these allow a continuous trickle of smoke to rise up into the vortex.

Now I just need help finding something that produces bright yellow smoke, without the smell of Ultimate Evil...

Now just bend this over your head. [darksasami, Oct 04 2004, last modified Oct 05 2004]

I see you haven't tried the popular, head-mounted, laser show halo or the Native American, smoldering tonsure, smoke signal halo.

No, I felt burning hair wouldn't do. I mean, [DrCurry] might need a halo, too.

I like the certain Fritz Lang quality about it.

How ever you do it, I'll buy it.

So this hat would give you a halo by turning you into a saint...?
-- DrCurry, Jul 21 2003

well since we're all holograms, afterall, shouldn't your hat project phony hologram halos? -BeeBee

I’d like to see a halonut. A doughnut with a big hole—a hole big enough to put your head through it. Saints? They would be those people who hadn’t yet eaten their breakfast of halonuts.

hmmm.... Mr Burns quoting Homer. What's next, Flanders dating Smithers?

Actually, if this halo consistently gets sort of partly blown away at the crown of the head, it might look like....a pair of horns.
