Halfbakery: Users: Rating
Halfbakery: vote on contributors   (+4, -14)  [vote for, against]
Heading says it all.

We have voting for ideas, we should have voting for individuals. I.e., give everyone the ability to assign a score, from -10 to 10, to each account.

You'll be able to see who voted for/against you, so you can discuss the issues with them and reach understanding -- by not hiding the voting I hope to increase communication and thereby increase the value of this database.

Then you end up with yet another way for trolls to try to get on the lists.

If people want to know what you think of their idea they will read the annotation you provide. If they want to discuss further they will annotate back.

What good is rating each individual contributor? Why would you want to give any one person a negative vote? I think the intention of this site is to discuss "ideas" not the people who have them. We already have voting on ideas, and if people are interested in telling you why they voted for or against you they will annotate.

I'm with blahginger on this one- we're voting on ideas, not thinkers. Otherwise, this admirable forum might degenerate into a popularity contest for trolls and non-trolls.

Besides- it's doubtful if anyone *knows* anything about the actual people who contribute ideas. You can't judge a book by its cover, and you certainly can't judge a person by the ideas they contribute here.

you could vote on how interesting their profile and the pages it links to are... still not a very good idea though...

I bet if you could vote for me it would be negative infinity.
