Halfbakery: Realization
Halfbakery Collaborators   (+2, -3)  [vote for, against]
Let the best half-baked ideas spawn private collaborator channels

Once ideas are in the halfbakery domain for a while and there is alot of grist for the mill, make it possible for half-bakery participants to vote-spawn private channels wherein they could collaborate above the noise in the rest of the bakery.

QuickTopic http://www.quicktopic.com/
Instant mailing list. [jutta, Sep 17 2000]

Noise? I don't hear anything.

There's this thing called "e-mail"...
-- egnor, Sep 17 2000

What egnor said. Put your email address (or some spam-proof permutation thereof) into your personal profile to make it possible for interested parties to contact you.

If you want to be more public, use a service like "takeitoffline.com" (now renamed to "quicktopic.com", but we knew it before it was cool...) to create a discussion space, and link to it from the idea.

Let me rephrase slightly: It would be interesting to have a mechanism to facilitate the evolution of ideas from half-baked to 3/4 baked etc through the input of collaborators.

This category, for example, would benefit from having older, less active half-baked ideas listed seperately from newer and/or more active half-baked ideas.

So anything that inspires interest and comment should be taken off the halfbakery then? Interesting approach.
-- DrBob, Sep 19 2000

Um, no. Anything that inspires interest and comment should be at the forefront, as it currently is, and perhaps more so.

Jutta's idea and implementation of the Overview section is perfect IMHO. A quick glance at the overview and you know what has been updated recently.

It would simply be helpful if the same logic was applied down the hierarchy in each category so that ideas that are talked about frequently were at the top of the list or otherwise highlighted.

Ah, I see where you're coming from now. Apologies for the misunderstanding. I still don't like the idea though because lazy people (like me for instance) will only ever look at the top active items on the list and older, perhaps worthier but less active items will become neglected. Whereas at present, some of the more venerable, and cheesier, ideas occassionally receive a new and surprising infusion of life from new visitors to the bakery/2.
