Halfbakery: Game
Halfbakery Bong Game   (+2, -2)  [vote for, against]
Drop in a lyric, and see if anyone spots it.

As per my annotation on The Secret Holiday Suffix Club, this is a game I used to play with my mate to make the conversation more interesting.
Basically, at any point in the conversation where appropriate, you would slip in a song lyric excerpt. If the other person spotted it then they had to follow with the next line - if not, the originator shouts 'Bong!' and scores one point up for themselves.
We used to play it for pints so that whenever we went out, the one who was down had to buy that many pints before the rounds evened out again.
I suggest that we start doing this on the half-bakery, especially if we get into a particularly long and tiresome rant-fest. Obviously we'll have to forego the pints, but suggest you slip in a song lyric, ans see if another half-baker picks it up in their next annotation. They shouldn't point out the song - just follow up the line.
You can bong someone if noone spots it after a few posts.
Well, it might be entertaining...

Well, I woke up this morning, and the first idea I read was this one.

Got yourself a gun, lewisgirl?
-- PotatoStew, Jul 10 2001

you were *always* on my mind, waugsqueke
-- lewisgirl, Jul 10 2001

//especially if we get into a particularly long and tiresome rant-fest// can we fill up 'gun control' with this then? it might distract the eye from the beretta boy.
waugs, the Saw Doctors? "and when she'd go up to confession I'd kneel down there and watch her pass... the glory of her ass."
-- lewisgirl, Jul 10 2001

...but i had to kill her.

i don't know how well this will work. after all, in the absence of actual voices which one can use to add inflection to statements, it could get really difficult to weed out song lyrics from regular posts.

goodbye stranger...
-- mihali, Jul 10 2001

But you know waug, I can still remember how that music used to make me smile.

[I'm with mihali... I find this very confusing, trying to figure out which words are meant to be lyrics, and which song the alleged lyrics are supposed to match up with]
-- PotatoStew, Jul 10 2001

Hmmmm - nearly. Was kind of thinking it might happen in the normal run of things on other subjects too. mihali, i guess withou the voices, it'll just be that bit harder to pick it up.
I think that subtlety is the key...(and no, that's not a song lyric)

Beware of the Bong. It creeps and leaps...
-- Dewey, Jul 10 2001

Look, that's way too complicated for rmutt, and he's not even high. Howabout a variation on the old "Bob Newhart" drinking game? Something like 1/2 hit for a PeterSealy "Baked" annotation, one hit for an rmutt physics flame, one hit all around for an idea involving explosions, and finish the bowl for a Vernon idea (perhaps by the end you can understand it).
-- rmutt, Jul 11 2001

Have to admit, though, it'd make Vernon's fifteen screen ideas readable...or at least looked-forward-to.
-- StarChaser, Jul 12 2001

Ripping to the sound of the beat.

She's a killer...
-- PotatoStew, Jul 13 2001

Queeeeen, <something here I never understand>,
Dynamite with a laser beam,
Guaranteed
-- lewisgirl, Jul 14 2001

thank you!

my tea's gone cold.
-- lewisgirl, Jul 14 2001

how about 1 shot per page of vernon... in the long run you get to drink even more... that processor idea of his could realy start to get interesting... also if some other conditions are met(pedantry maybe) you have to eat a bowl of custard...

[UnaBubba & Potatostew] Like the narrative, but whatever this song is, it isn't another one bites the dust!
Second verse:
Are you ready, hey, are you ready for this?
Are you hangin' on the edge of your seat?
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
To the sound of the beat - yeah

Another one bites the dust....

or last verse:
But I'm ready, yes I'm ready for you
I'm standing on my own two feet
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
Repeating to the sound of the beat

Yeeeaah

Another one bites the dust...

Just call me El Pedanto.
