Gyroscopic stunt bike   (+7)  [vote for, against]
Control pitch, yaw, and roll after takeoff

Two motors control two gyros. one on x axis and one on y axis. Take a jump, get big air, and add or remove energy to the gyro/flywheel causing directional tumble. Theoretically you could do a front flip then a back flip in a single jump. Done right the Priest might try to exercise a demon from you.

I thought this motorcycle looked like a gyroscope! http://www.brainpic.../strange-invetions/

Gyros on bikes are nothing new, and not really an improvement unless the wheels themselves.
-- rcarty, Jan 05 2013

Well I've never seen one, so even if they do exist it's still my Idea. I have also never seen a front flip followed by a back flip. I can imagine this on a remote controlled car as well. Oh what fun!

rcarty post a link if you can find one. I'd like to see one in action!

Technically every bicycle is gyroscopic. However good they are at 'conservation of angular momentum' quite massive gyroscopes, and power would be required to actually orient the vehicle in space as you suggest.

Surely you just pull a front flip and then while you are in the air select the highest gear and start pedalling like mad?
-- pocmloc, Jan 05 2013

If you could pull that off I would try to exercise a demon out of you.

sp. exorcise
-- rcarty, Jan 06 2013

exorcise looks wrong but yeah O.K. thanks rcarty

Not a big deal, I'm not very strict about spelling. In fact, I would support freer spelling.
-- rcarty, Jan 06 2013

No he meant exercise - jealousy would impel him to attempted emulation.
-- pocmloc, Jan 06 2013

mebbe it's an exorcise bike.

To really make this sing and dance one should use a flywheel of about 1000 lbs. Also for maximal time to perform aerial stunts, bike and rider should be dropped from an airplane. The rider can get the flywheel up to speed during the trip up. After spinning forwards and backwards, any residual momentum of the flywheel can be use to propel fan blades, arresting the descent of bike and rider. When fan blades are done, the ride jumps off and deploys a chute. A minute later the flywheel (made of ice) is destroyed by dynamite in midair and the rider descends godlike through the rainbow made by the shimmering cloud.

[+] A modified version could be used by basketball players trying to achieve hang time.
