I don't even know if this is possible because words can be used in ways that were never intended, A bit like our universe really. Although, smart people trying to avoid the list and still get away with a poke might be more interesting. Subtle ones that go over the posters head would be the gold standard.
If there are words that are specific for person attacks or put downs, these words could be listed and used as a count on a halfbaker's annotational demeanor. If you feel you are getting flamed unjustly, you can go and check out the profile. Looking at the grouch count informs you that the person is just the Halfbakery Street grouch and you personally can feel a bit better.
The numbers could be translated to an icon of Oscar. First a waste paper bin, then then street rubbish can, then Oscar peeping out and finally lid off,Oscar fully out.
It would be nice to use positive words but as in life and evolution, looking for the negative has been weighted.-- wjt, May 02 2020 Or Goth Crunch? Goth_20CrunchCold... and dark... [RayfordSteele, May 18 2020] Sounds like Chinese regime totalitarian "social credit rating" stuff. An enthusiastically grouchy bone for that idea.
Just put me at the top of the "grouch" list and leave everybody else alone.-- doctorremulac3, May 03 2020 Depends on who sets the word list. Of course, there would be a landscape of subtle grouchies.-- wjt, May 06 2020 This is the best idea ever, because words always mean one concrete expression completely independent of context, and I really mean this with all my heart, and am not being completely and utterly sarcastic in any way whatsoever...-- RayfordSteele, May 07 2020 Sorry, [wjt], but lexical parsing sucks.
(So, what [Ray] said). [-]-- pertinax, May 15 2020 I just keep reading this as Grouch Cunt. Somewhere deep in my subconscious my halfbakery ideation engine is working on an idea for that title...-- wagster, May 18 2020 OMG you said that word. Or I mean you wrote that word, or something...-- blissmiss, May 18 2020 Are you sure it wasn't Gout Crunch?-- pertinax, May 18 2020 [blissmiss] This is the echelon of the oblique thinkers, stepping away from a word's meaning while holding it tighter, is buttered croissant around here.-- wjt, May 19 2020 Gout Crunch - the breakfast cereal for corpulent alcoholics. Fortified with port.-- wagster, May 19 2020 Now when I see the idea my mind mimics wags interpretation, and I hear that in my head. I'm gonna have to shut my eyes when I open the Halfbakery. That's gonna be weird. Wonder what I'll open. I'm gonna give it a try and see.-- blissmiss, May 19 2020 "Best Oktober Ideas". Odd (Great link, Rayford.)-- blissmiss, May 19 2020 // Fortified with port //
Fortified port ? You mean like Valetta, or somewhere ?-- 8th of 7, May 19 2020 That made me groan as I lie here on my sofa, 8th. The sound was sort of a... couch grunt.-- wagster, May 19 2020 Actually, you remind me of my posh but grumpy uncle, Count Grouch.-- wagster, May 19 2020 He's sadly not around any longer though. He was good friends with a famous green grump who wanted to ruin Christmas. The pair fell out when Count Grouch molested his friend's wife. He was killed for feeling up the...-- wagster, May 19 2020 ...I'll go now.-- wagster, May 19 2020 Wow, how we digress...-- blissmiss, May 19 2020 I recall an internet-famous debate during which someone whose name rhymes with "pordon Jeeterson" absolutely trounced a reporter in a debate. There was one of the usual storms on twitter, and someone wrote a paper on that storm, the premise of which was that it constituted harassment and misogyny. The way they judged is to use a computer to filter out tweets for violent words. So a tweet like "He absolutely spanked her" was taken either as a threat of violence or as violent misogyny. The prevalence of positive or negative words in a post are somewhat indicative of negativity, but it takes a human level mind to parse them and decide whether they're actually positive, negative, or neutral. Anyone claiming they can count words and thereby arrive at a conclusion has an axe to grind.-- Voice, May 20 2020 I was watching Youtube, the oracle for letting your brain spill out on the floor, and one commentator's opinion was that compounding research will eventually make A.I at a human processing level. His point was that the field has a cool value, rather than the nuclear isotopes, DNA manipulation, angels fear to tread other scenarios. People aren't as scared, as they possible should be, because it's just code in a box. There will always be someone to sharpen some of the hammers from that box.
Of course there must be a limited number of lists needed to remember double meanings of sentences. The grouchy Count Grammarly will be annoyed and mark recording if advice is not taken.-- wjt, May 23 2020 // People aren't as scared, as they possible should be, because it's just code in a box. //
Humans are very, very bad at assessing and comprehending the relative and absolute values of real and potential threats - particularly Black Swans.
// There will always be someone to sharpen some of the hammers from that box. //
That would be ... us.
