Goes not without Sayings   (+2, -3)  [vote for, against]
Two half truths make a whole lot

With this idea one would appear to be less of a fool upon uttering or typing a thought. This online sayings generator would split and combine existing, mundane sayings into new, improved variants. The sayings' familiarity and their puzzling meanings would make the user appear original, intellectual and exotic.

Some samples:
A penny saved is better than two in the bush.
A fool and his money make the world go around.
Early to bed and early to rise makes a woman scorned.

Spoonerismas and mixed metaphors are baked.

(Thank goodness i got away with that one, phew.)

I liked the bit in the movie 'Ghostbusters' where Ray says, "hey you guys, listen!.... can you smell that?".
-- BrianMaiden, Apr 15 2003

does anyone have any examples that would make the writer appear original, intellectual and exotic??
-- lewstanley, Nov 28 2003

Listen! This smells like the popular 'Use Bizarre Metaphors' thread by [globaltorniquet]. His annotation of the scented banana length resembles [UnaBubba]'s Metaphors anno "That's nearly as long as a banana that smells about this colour (May 4 2001)"

However, I do understand the finer differences in this idea, as it makes a point of taking regular phrases and rearranging them, whereas Metaphors was more of a free-for-all. Should I be mistaken, I'll publicly word my swallows. We love you, Farmer Namesake!
