Geranium Shepherd   (+12, -4)  [vote for, against]
It's Crufts time again!

For those who don't know, Crufts is the world's largest dog show, and is a truly bizarre event that celebrates all things canine.

I like to acknowledge Crufts with a new idea on each of its anniversaries. Last year I brought you "Every Dog has it's Duplex", which I liked (surprise, surprise) but not many other folk appreciated. For the year before, there was Pedigree Basalt, which fared better.

This year I present the Geranium Shepherd. This is a competition to see who can convert their Alsatian dog's head into the most realistic or imaginative flower.

Each competitor is given as a starting point one of those plastic conical collars, that are used to stop an injured animal from licking a recently treated wound. It's up to them to customise it in whatever way they choose.

"And this year's winner is Simon, the barking, snapping Venus Fly Trap, complete with orbiting, buzzing bluebottle"

Point-settier?
-- phoenix, Mar 07 2008

Oh very good. With a whole pup brood (is that the right term?), you could have a collie border.

Litter in your borders? Youth of today, eh!

And I thought the poodle haircuts were ridiculous... +

Wisterrier. Goldenrod retriever.

Oh bugger. I promised myself I'd stay off puns.

Germanium shepherd. Dress half of him up in a black suit and tape a truncated baton to one paw, thereby making him a semiconductor.

One of the alternative names of the Shih Tzu used in China was "Crysanthemum-faced dog" - this name arose from the technique of brushing and combing the dog's facial hair outwards from the nose, so that the head looks like the bloom of a Chrysanthemum.

It takes remarkably little effort to produce this effect, especially if the Shih Tzu in question has just awoken from a peaceful night's sleep and is suffering from the condition known as "morning face" (which can afflict humans, too).

By an odd coincidence, I went to a local animal exhibit near us, but was disappointed to find that their only exhibit was a single dog. I thought it was a Shih Tzu.

I still really dislike Crufts.

You were spotted at last year's show, and you can't change that.

Oh, honey!, you shouldn't have!

Merci beaucoup for my basset round (bouquet)!
