Friends: The college years   (+2, -14)  [vote for, against]
Add life to a played-out series

See, it's the same cast, but they're in more grown-up situations than in the original series, so it'll be better and more lifelike and people will fall in love with Phoebe all over again. It's ratings GOLD!
-- efarns, May 19 2002

I'm pretty sure Phoebe never went to college.

This is the kind of idea that makes me want to post "Mandatory three-season/series sitcom run."

"Friends" a century later: The Coffin Years. Sorry, don't watch the telly so that's really not cricket of me. But sheeshes and sheets, efarns, get you one life.
-- Dog Ed, May 20 2002

Since there isn't any specific sort of criticism here, I guess you all must just be "Friends" haters and would be against any idea, no matter how brilliant, involving the cast that will not go away. However, after reading your comments, I think I was wrong in beliving this to be "ratings gold." It's obviously "ratings platinum."

'Friends: The Long May They Burn In Hell For All Eternity Channel' would certainly be a hit with me.
-- -alx, May 20 2002

I think I could live with "Friends: the re-runs of the first 2 series", at least if they hadn't all been on telly at least 20 times already.
-- pottedstu, May 20 2002

Rods, I'd prefer the reverse of that idea, where the cast of Friends perform the show normally, except for having refrigerators suspended by burning ropes over their heads.
-- waugsqueke, May 20 2002

No, Lagwager, the correct question is, "What made you think you could Make New Friends here?"
-- Susen, Aug 16 2002

And here I was thinking this would be a Friends prequel, presumably with a different cast...
-- bookworm, Aug 16 2002

The idea that a college environment is 'more grown up' is contrary to all experience. Friends was one major reason I gave away my TV set. My own friends are funnier, by a long chalk.
-- pfperry, Aug 16 2002

How about 'Friends: the autumn years'. Each episode could charter the zimmer-frame-ridden friends' escapades to the fridge, hear them complaining about stairs and go and pick up their pensions.
Or not.
-- NickTheGreat, Aug 16 2002

Shirley this is just the way we're heading now, nick?
-- yamahito, Aug 16 2002

I came up with this . . . hmmm, over a year ago. In that time, nobody bothered or picked up on this just being a play on "Saved By the Bell." Was it really that obscure?

(cricket sounds)

Their are already, what, 10-14 seasons of Friends (I don't know the exact number). We need no more.

Uh uh gggng arrgh gaga graaaaaaaah KILLKILLKILL KIIIIIIIIILL!!!
-- wagster, Mar 05 2005

I have been wondering for some time when they were going the make an episode of Friends entitled "The One Where They All Get Over Themselves And Stop Being Such Vain, Vapid, Self-Absorbed Preppy Twats", but I thought it might come across as a rant.
