Flywheel-Powered Dragster   (+14, -4)  [vote for, against]
Spin a wheel then let it meet the road.

Drag racing events often have vehicles that are simply for entertainment, not for competition, like jet-powered semi-trailer trucks. It would be entertaining to see a dragster powered by babes in bikinis, which works as follows:

The dragster has a single 10 ft diameter heavy wheel, and four small wheels. The big wheel is mounted center-front, and raised off the ground a few inches, its axle held up by hydraulic cylinders.

The babes spend the time the dragster is waiting in line to run, and possibly all day, riding stationary bicycles that are connected to the large wheel, bringing the wheel up to high rotational speed, storing energy.

At the starting line, the babes dismount, their machinery is removed, and the intrepid driver, quite possibly a babe herself, climbs aboard the vehicle. When the light turns green the driver releases the hydraulic pressure, and the rapidly spinning big wheel slowly descends to meet the road.

Something interesting should happen at this point.

Reminds me of some old toy motorcycles I once owned. Absolutely cool.

Its been done. There was a Tv show on Discovery where a person used a motor to spin up a large truck wheel and then lower it onto the ground. Fully baked
