The "shadow" shaped like the skateboard makes it look like it's floating a foot or so above the ground.

Don't know if any of you are aware but this is exactly how one type of levitation illusion is performed.

You cut away the soles of your shoes, practice ballerina toe tricks for a few years, and wear black socks so that your feet can't be seen in their own shadow.
