What if Flat Earth Society members wanted to have a model of the world in their home? They couldn't use a globe in the usual sense. This is where my product comes in - a flat pancake- (or square-) shaped picture of the earth, on a stand for easy reference. Economy models would have the stand made out of cheap plastic. The deluxe model would have a carved wooden stand, oceans tinted light brown, and would have pictures of dragons around the edges.
(I called this a globe because I didn't know what else to call it. If anyone has any suggestions, please tell me.)-- Rubi, Mar 01 2004 (?) Flat Earth Society http://www.flat-earth.org/There are some left... Complete with picture of this idea. [English Bob, Oct 04 2004] The Flat-out Truth http://www.lhup.edu...imanek/fe-scidi.htmHere's an equally entertaining link... [English Bob, Oct 04 2004] a map?-- po, Mar 01 2004 would you like a mercator projection "flattened globe" or standard? and when i say "flattened globe" i mean map.-- Space-Pope, Mar 01 2004 A Flobe?-- Detly, Mar 01 2004 erm..quite. A MAP, sillybilly. Like the dragons though. You could make luxury models with toporaphical features built up to resemble the real thing (on a smaller scale of course). A delux version could come complete with a square cherrywood stand like one of those posh music stands but with a flat top. I don't know what else to call it though. Flatstand, mapsupport? It could also be used to eat your dinner off or support a vase of flowers.-- squeak, Mar 01 2004 All flat Earthers should be rounded up and driven off the worlds edge like Lemmings.-- 2 fries shy of a happy meal, Mar 01 2004 Was that a pun? "rounded up" hohoho-- unclepete, Mar 01 2004 There aren't REALLY any flat-earthers left, are there?-- squeak, Mar 01 2004 There's gotta be something from a Terry Pratchett fan club-- theircompetitor, Mar 01 2004 Terry Pratchett fans would be flat-Discworlders.-- GenYus, Mar 01 2004 Whatabuncha jibberish.-- yabba do yabba dabba, Mar 01 2004 random, halfbakery
