A little more detail might not go amiss, mhup.

Ok. Use a nice length of fiber-optic cable and a fly tied so that it's little fake leggs are lit by the main cable (which has a light on the other end by the reel). Good fiber shows no light along it's length, just at the end.

Sounds at least moderately interesting, but would the trout go for it? I think some experimentation is called for.

Last I heard Leslie Ash had some kind of chest infection.

I've built digital camera / fiberoptic gadgets for dental use.....trust me, you should just get in the water with a wetsuit and a speargun.

It's beautiful down there....

The author suggests that trout go for lighted baits. I'd need to see some evidence of this.

As noted. Methinks they will either give it a complete miss or this will be the most significant thing to hit fishing since hooks.

Apparently, some (deep sea) fish actually rely on this principle to attract prey.

I've only heard this by word of mouth, but in most places fishing with lights at night is illegal

Coming soon: the flashing neon sign lure "Sexy Trout Go-Go".

I don't know about [most places].....It's legal for commercial use in many areas, and for public in others. Depends on the locale and the game population.

Are you sure those are squid?
-- angel, Jul 12 2004

Yeah, this would attract fish for sure, but it is illegal to hunt with lights where I'm from (Canada). BUt then again international waters are only, what 15 km out?

Have lures with small LEDs been invented yet? ( Pardon my ignorance )
