It seems that there's a never ending stream of pundits on all sides of every issue.
Create a game akin to the various Fantasy sports leagues where players start from a given recent point in history, and play out a simulation of how the world affairs would have turned out had they been in charge.
Losing candidates are obvious players (i.e. Gore 2000, Dole 96, Bush 92) but so are pundits and just about everyone interested in politics.
Everyone plays by the same rules, so results in the game could actually be useful in determining candidates for political office.-- theircompetitor, Feb 24 2004 Diplomacy http://en.wikipedia...ki/Diplomacy_(game)A similar game. [theircompetitor, Jun 20 2012] Baked on a slightly smaller scale. In the UK, the (very boring) magazine 'Local Government Chronicle' runs an annual competition wherein teams of staff from a large number of real-life authorities take on the role of politicians in control of a mythical town. The competition lasts a couple of (real life) days during which the teams are confronted with a variety of events and problems that crop up in the mythical town. The group that deals best with the problems is declared the winner and gets a prize.-- DrBob, Feb 25 2004 DrBob -- I can't for the life of me imagine anything duller then Fantasy Baseball...
No, wait a second -- I think I DID imagine it.
Love it, UnaBubba :)-- theircompetitor, Feb 25 2004 Love it, TC.
Point systems would be a little wierd, seeing as you'd have to make a lot of subjective stuff objective. I imagine using an "I told you so," kind of system to quantify good/bad decisions made in the past.-- yabba do yabba dabba, Feb 25 2004 Reminds me of the old "Balance of Power" game... first PC game I ever played back in '85.-- waugsqueke, Feb 29 2004 Quick, get the paper - has Africa made IT'S move yet?!-- Letsbuildafort, Feb 29 2004 Yeah--it's looks like they're getting ready to attack Africa...-- yabba do yabba dabba, Mar 03 2004 thanks, zt-- theircompetitor, Jan 25 2005 See PeaceMaker link for latest game entry in this area-- theircompetitor, Apr 22 2006 Have you tried out this game [theircompetitor]?-- blissmiss, Mar 14 2009 ah, not really, [blissmiss], I mostly write games, I don't actually have time to play them :) But it came up in some research I was doing and reminded me of this idea.-- theircompetitor, Mar 15 2009 I meant the one on your link just to be clear.-- blissmiss, Mar 15 2009 random, halfbakery
