Humor in humans is the equivalent of mating dances in birds. Bird's mating dances were their level-of-evolution's cutting edge, the first time there had ever been ritualized communication between individuals to that extent. At the human level of evolution the mating dance happens between the two halves of the brain of an individual, when the individual gets a joke, or sees something funny in a situation or makes and invention. Ideas use the two halves of human brains as a stage on which to do a mating dance until, with the recognition of novelty, they procreate and produce a new idea.
I saw this clearly in the eyebrows of Tom Snyder, a talk show host from the 1990s. On his show it was the custom to fill the camera up with his face as he listened to the guest, and when the guest said something funny, Tom Snyder's eyebrows would do this little mating dance that was truely the most amazing thing. The energy would ripple back and forth between the two halves of the face and make those eyebrows look just like two head butting gazells.
So the idea would be to make little decorative eyebrow antlers so that this mating dance between the eyebrows upon the recognition of novelty in the environment would have a bit of a retro flair and refer back to the first mating dances among animals.-- JesusHChrist, Nov 18 2005 Tom Snyder http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Snyder [JesusHChrist, Nov 18 2005] The Tomorrow Show http://www.innavoy....unds_tom_snyder.htm [JesusHChrist, Nov 18 2005] Slugbrows Slugbrows [gorjabuble, Nov 18 2005] Some of us just liked Tom because he made a good colortini.-- jurist, Nov 18 2005 For a moment I thought Farmer John was back.-- DrCurry, Nov 18 2005 Ditto!-- bristolz, Nov 18 2005 I wear full sized antlers out on the town, and I still cannot pick up any women.
