Empty City Stock Footage   (+7)  [vote for, against]
to be mashed up and used in films later

Establish a common archive into which people can deposit footage of their local settlement with no people visible.

Given enough distinct contributions, anyone in the world making a post-apocalyptic film in later years will be able to construct "empty street" sequences from this archive without the source being immediately obvious.

Traffic and security cameras could make a valuable contribution to get the ball rolling.

I've enjoyed seeing my city in post-apocalyptic dystopian mode. As the street cleaners have been classed non- essential it has become more creepy every week.

Perhaps some fake corpses could be strewn around, to add a little artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

Drones could make another contribution with the flight paths free.

Then again, perhaps some real corpses could be strewn around, to add rather more artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

You could always add your green-screened characters in later. Or throw in some stock footage of people standing around looking pensive, add a narrator overlay, and you can have anything from a murder mystery to a historical documentary.
