[to be completed, if people think this is a good idea]
Have all halfbakery categories in one page, so that a simple browser search will show you all the entries.
[2015 edit] I deleted the long list since flyingtoaster's link gives a better solution.
Please note: It would still be nice to be able to search while adding an idea and looking for the proper category-- pashute, May 29 2013 Halfbakery View: List Of Categories http://www.halfbake...t_20of_20CategoriesOk, it's not exactly what the poster intended, instead, it lists out the headline categories first, and requires the user to drill-down and see the underlying categories as a second-stage. But it wont need to be manually updated to reflect any changes. [zen_tom, May 29 2013] Halfbakery View: All Categories http://www.halfbake...:t=All_20CategoriesAha, Flying Toaster's link is much better in this respect. [zen_tom, May 29 2013] as linked by [krelnik] in... Category_20Search [FlyingToaster, May 29 2013] or you could look at the bottom of my account page for a url entitled "All Categories" ... is that what you mean ?-- FlyingToaster, May 29 2013 Well, yes, I did not know of that.
Still this idea has the benefit of adding an explanation in parenthesis.
How do I add the "All categories" as a permanent link in my main halfbakery page (on my halfbakery sidebar?)-- pashute, May 29 2013 OK, I see what you're wanting to do here - the problem with this list existing on this page is a typical IT problem-scenario - i.e. synchronisation.
While the details are very likely to remain correct for the near future, the variance between the information presented here, and the real set of categories (which is liable to change over time) can only increase.
The alternative might be to create a dynamic view that looks up and lists all categories on a single-page, and I think that's doable...let me have a try...-- zen_tom, May 29 2013 Or just view the source of the add idea page, which is fast, easy, and nicely searchable.-- ytk, May 29 2013 //Or just view the source of the add idea page
That's what I do, but it can be a bugger on the eyes.
I vote "superconducting cheese" gets it's own category..-- not_morrison_rm, May 29 2013 I think I got it off of [21Quest] who copied it from [krelnik]'s original link in a similar Idea <link>.
I used to have a .txt of them on my hard-disk, painstakingly parsed out from the table, but there was always the chance that [jutta] would add to or modify the live list.-- FlyingToaster, May 29 2013 random, halfbakery
