Salt n' Vinegar? Mmm, yummy! Or wait, do I want Cheese & Onion? Or maybe these Sweet Thai Chilli ones look good. How about Smoky Bacon? Oh no look, they've got Barbecue flavour too! How will I ever choose?
Maybe the above example's a little extreme but sometimes you don't just want one flavour of crisps. Maybe there's no-one around you can share with, and you don't want to eat 2 bags of crisps because that's just greedy.
Why not market bags of crisps with a mix of 2 flavours in? You could choose 2 that go together - like for instance Barbecue and Smoky Bacon, or Tomato and Sausage. Or a couple of flavours that contrast: Salt n' Vinegar and Roast Beef.
Or you could go the whole hog and have multi-flavours, like when someone tips 7 bags of crisps into a bowl. Every mouthful would be a surprise!-- kmlabs, Mar 03 2005 "Walkers limited edition snacks for Comic Relief" http://www.theretai...=5&cat=bran&id=5704ah bugger, when I posted the link it wasn't subscription... [calum, Mar 03 2005, last modified Sep 10 2006] To augment Calum's subscription link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WalkersSee the paragraph under "Flavours" verifying the limited edition dual-flavour snacks produced during the Comic Relief promotion of 2005. [jurist, Sep 10 2006] Make meat and sauce flavors and mix them and make recipes like jelly bean recipes.-- oz, Mar 03 2005 I'm no fan of potato chips (crisps) but this does seem a reasonably good idea. Not really sure it's an original invention, though.-- bristolz, Mar 03 2005 They're called "all-dressed" in Canada. Commonly available.
What ever happened to the the 'flavor' mfd, I wonder...-- waugsqueke, Mar 04 2005 Crash...Hey! You got your Brussel Sprouts in my Lasagna! No..You got your Lasagna on my Brussel Sprouts! Crunch.. Mmmm. Fabulous! Two great tastes that taste great together.. Dual-Flavor Potato Chips.-- UVApostrophe, Mar 04 2005 but that's just one flavour as in salt 'n vinegar. nice range of crisps that.-- po, Mar 04 2005 Since your tastbuds are on the top of your tongue, how about having the two surfaces of each crisp coated with a different flavoring? Then, you could just orient each chip the right way before eating. So if you felt like having more of one flavor that day (for some reason), you could.-- peterj, Mar 04 2005 I'm sure Walkers have just launched exactly this, but I can't find any info on it. There was a tv ad for "special edition" packs of dual flavour crisps a couple of weeks ago.-- wagster, Mar 04 2005 see calum's link, wagster.-- salachair, Mar 04 2005 Bugger!
I can't believe the timing of that! Right, I'm off down the shop to try and find some humble and pie flavoured crisps...-- kmlabs, Mar 04 2005 good thinking peterj.-- po, Mar 04 2005 [calum] EEEURGH! Baked bean flavour, I actually tried these for a dare from my sister, and it still gives me nightmares!-- froglet, Mar 04 2005 [froglet], breath slowly and think "Sea Salt and Cracked Black Pepper Kettle Chips." Aaaah. That's better.-- calum, Mar 04 2005 Okay people, having done some hands-on research, I can now report that the Walkers Comic Relief crisps are NOT two flavours in the same packet - they are in fact new limited-edition flavours based on 2 of the company's existing flavours - such as:
Cheese & Bacon Quavers Cheese & Pickle(d Onion) Bacon & Ketchup Barbecue Chicken.
I have to say I'm disappointed - but at least it makes my idea valid again...-- kmlabs, Mar 09 2005 Ohh, how about teriyaki and guacamole flavored.-- Vegan_Princess, Sep 10 2006 They have this now, doritos that have two flavors per bag.-- dehodson, Jun 19 2008 //...like when someone tips 7 bags of crisps into a bowl. Every mouthful would be a surprise!// - actually only 85.7% of mouthfuls would be a surprise. One seventh of the time you should be able to correctly guess the flavour of the crisp.-- hippo, Jun 19 2008 //One seventh of the time you should be able to correctly guess the flavour of the crisp.//
Only if you actually chose to make a guess, which you probably wouldn't do if you wanted a surprise.-- pertinax, Jun 19 2008 random, halfbakery
