"Frosty Paws" appears to be an ice cream sort of treat for dogs. It's probably not ice cream as we know it, but if it were, wouldn't it just be ice cream?
-- half, Aug 12 2004

"Frosty Paws" is excellent stuff... my dog used to eat it like crazy -- especially in the summer.

I'm holding back the mfd for "widely known to exist" just because I know that "Frosty Paws" (although sold nationally in the US) just might not be "widely known".

I'd never heard of it. Where do you buy it? Do they have freezer sections in pet stores? Do they make ice cream for old hot toothless cats?
-- Worldgineer, Aug 12 2004

I remembered seeing it on some television program, but I've never seen it in a store.

Preheated, and therefore melted, in Larry Niven's "Man-Kzin Wars". Tuna-flavored ice cream....

Giving icecream to dogs is a great idea; that's why I'll give this idea a bun... but pets deserve some snack every once in a while to clear their tongue's of the same old taste they have every day with their food.

Dogs seem to eat regular ice cream just fine, and I think they like it so much because it tastes different than what they eat every day.
-- Pericles, Aug 12 2004

You could be right, [Peri]. Perhaps re-market regular ice cream for dogs? I forget - do we do marketing anymore here? (I believe I've blocked out the whole coffee-colored-mugs incident, so I'm not sure)
-- Worldgineer, Aug 12 2004

Sounds good to me. They'll probably just drop the cones, though.
-- lostdog, Aug 12 2004

That's ok, my dogs are fine with eating off the ground.
-- Worldgineer, Aug 12 2004

I've been warned off allowing cats to eat ice cream because they are apparently very susceptible to becoming diabetic. I thought the same was true of dogs, too. So if you're going to give your pet a nice cold treat, you might at least want to make sure that it is sugar-free and maybe even formulated for lactose intolerance. And, of course, you already know that even small amounts of chocolate are poison to both cats and dogs. Looks like the Frosty Paws recipes have taken all that into consideration.

//even small amounts of chocolate are poison to both cats and dogs//--This is one of the reasons I'm glad I'm neither of those 2 animals.
-- Machiavelli, Aug 12 2004

But ice cream might make it a little better. Plus there's the sleeping all day thing.
-- Worldgineer, Aug 12 2004

Hmmmm...sleeping all day or chocolate? That's a tough choice. Thanks for making my life more complicated, [Worldgineer].

If you dog has a taste for horse or whale, Japan is the place to be!! [link]

I thought we were talking about "old hot toothless dog(s)", the kind that are more bark than bite.

The local godbotherers are extremely soft. Spineless cult zombies. Tenderized by years of self flagellation.
-- ConsulFlaminicus, Aug 13 2004

Forgive my ignorance, but what the hell are godbotherers?
-- Machiavelli, Aug 13 2004

//what the hell are godbotherers?//
Door-step evangelists.
-- angel, Aug 13 2004

Hey! You can't say 'hell' and 'godbotherer' in the same sentence!
-- ConsulFlaminicus, Aug 13 2004

Ok, [cf], that link is just strange.
-- Worldgineer, Aug 13 2004

Okay thanks, [angel], [Tabs],and [CF]. I think I get the picture.
