Direct Biometric Weighing   (+3)  [vote for, against]
find out how much that [REDACTED] really weighs

These are implanted strain gauges that report to your cell phone or heads-up display. Scaled for the full range of weights, there are gram/ounce kits for fingers, pound/kilo kits for wrists, and kits for heavier weights for elbow and shoulders, and even spine kits (for one or two backbones.)

They'd be surgically implanted across the joint and do what my $20 kitchen scale does, except they would report precisely. You could hold your hand out the window of a speeding car and find out how fast the wind is going by. The same for current or speed in a kayak. How heavy exactly is one pallbearer's load? Shoveling exactly 1/2 ton of mulch is a snap. To say nothing of some transactions where precision is critical for trust in commerce.

Cooking? Wow. Set yourself to tare weight and speed through lab work. Know what the change in your pocket is worth, to the penny.

You still won't be able to weigh your own head while alive. (+)

You haven't defined "head" well enough.

Doh!

This is pretty clever, & if it could be made to work would be incredibly useful.
Not sure about discerning between "externally applied" loads, & loads from your own muscles.

The system must be 'zeroed' before use. While hefting the approved objects after rising in the morning, the system zeros out by using know weights, like your toothbrush (finger), your shoe (wrist), your attaché (shoulder), etc. Reporting directly to your brain would be desirable, but how do you turn it off? The iPhone/HUD is used to give the user some peace as they go about their daily life.
