This idea is for people who have too many ties, and keep buying new ones. It's a tie that you can modify. You plug it into the computer, pick a shade of color or pattern, the color is sent via infrared to the tie, which changes color, then you put the tie on. All you have to do is buy it, and you have millions of different ties at your fingertips.

[markedfordeletion] magic.-- DrCurry, May 09 2003 DrCurry, you would only ever need one tie, so it would almost certainly make economic sense in the long run. And you could program it to change to something sportier as soon as you left the office. Somewhat later that evening, perhaps it could even flash subliminal messages...-- pluterday, May 09 2003 Screw static ties. I want an animated one. Maybe a TV display tie. Or one with a little video camera that shows what I'm seeing. Or fish. I want an animated fishtank tie.-- Worldgineer, May 09 2003 Won't fly with current technology. Any materials that you used to make a decent tie like this would be expensive at best, impractical to manufacture at worst. Think how silly a tie made of a plastic-type material would look...didn't that fad die in the 80's?-- Bongmaster, Jul 16 2003 Whether it looks silly or not, I think this is plausible and don't think it should be MFD. That means you, [DrC] ;-)-- bristolz, Aug 28 2003 I want a colour LCD tie, connected to a little camera attached to the back of my collar. Turn in on and it will look like you are looking right through me!-- Cedar Park, Aug 28 2003 random, halfbakery
