To help audiophiles be good neighbors

It is a computerized sound meter installed outside your home and connected (perhaps wirelessly) to your home theater volume control.

The purpose is to enforce an upper limit on the volume control, so that the sound that gets out of your house does not violate local noise ordinances. This is done dynamically, since different recordings can vary quite a bit in volume.

Nice. I'd like to see a mobile application of this, please.

I'd like to see a personal adaptation of this, please.

I'd like to see this on the bus ,please.

There's always one who emits a sound like ' a load of wasps in a glove compartment ' from his /her headphones.

I was once playing with a band in a club that had this. If the music got above a certain level (I think it was 120 db, can't remember) the power to all the amps cut out. We managed to set it off. You feel like a right arse when you're reaching the climax of your magnum opus and suddenly you're left standing, strumming a virtually silent guitar and the drummer's banging away behind you, oblivious...

Good idea though +.

I bet that club had received a noise citation in the past.
