Cigarettus Digitalus   (+7, -5)  [vote for, against]
cigarette with a bone

Inside every Cigarettus Digitalus is slender replica finger bone. As you smoke the dreaded product it gradually reveals its core in graphic detail.

sp. digitalis

digitalis is a type of shrub... that's why I didn't use.

Lat. finger = digitus, genitive: digiti. "Hot digiti"?

I always thought that digitalis was a foxglove.

Nice idea, though i wonder if it'll work because apparently the photos of lung cancer (in Canada?) on the packets don't.
Digitalis as in foxglove is from digitabulum, meaning thimble. Digitalis would also be the adjectival form of the name. The problem is then that you're using the wrong word for cigarette. The Latin for cigarette is sigarellum, which is neuter, so the correct title for this idea is "Sigarellum digitale".

So they got there before Sir Walter Raleigh?
-- AbsintheWithoutLeave, Feb 15 2009

Cool! I'd buy them just to collect the finger bones. Maybe also a little replica wrecked car in the bottle of every bottle of beer? And, indeed, cars could be modified to dispense teeny blue-lipped replica corpses from their exhaust pipes.

This would be much more fun than just having pictures on the packets like they do now. I mean, once you've collected all the pictures, where's the incentive to buy more cigarettes? The fingerbones could be made with little pop-bead type connectors, so you could build progressively weirder skeletal structures. If you want a marketing ploy, you have to think long-term and customer retention.

No, but we still have the Vatican and tobacco isn't the only thing you can roll up, set fire to and stick in your mouth.
