When you pick a chicken up and move it around, it's head orientation remains relatively locked in space, regardless of changes to it's body's pitch, yaw or roll, much like in these two videos www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dPlkFPowCc www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_jinXYrpQE (head isolation dance move)
Mobile phone stabilizers and camera stabilizers operate on the same principle to eliminate video recording sway, jolt and jitter. You can buy some online for less than fifty bucks.
The same principle can be applied to a helmet, with actuators attached strapped to a wearer's neck or upper torso, so that when riding a vehicle (ex. boat in choppy water), motion sickness can be eliminated by locking the wearer's head orientation in space.-- mailtosalonga, May 18 2022 Video 1 as a link https://www.youtube...watch?v=_dPlkFPowCc [calum, May 18 2022] Video 2 as a link https://www.youtube...watch?v=v_jinXYrpQE [calum, May 18 2022] Owls are superior for this purpose. https://www.youtube...watch?v=9hBpF_Zj4OARotate your owl [Loris, May 18 2022] Dance move using the stationary chicken head thing. https://www.youtube...watch?v=nMwwjH3M4_s [doctorremulac3, May 18 2022] I can see no flaw with this.-- calum, May 18 2022 I thought was going to be the name for a new way of preparing chicken for food consumption.-- xenzag, May 18 2022 The neck muscles in a single chicken are likely not strong enough to keep a human head oriented the same way. So I think this device would need an array of chickens mounted around the wearer's neck, with their bodies attached to the wearer's shoulders and their heads attached to the helmet. There would also need to be linkages to prevent stretching of the necks of the chickens on the down-slope side of the user.-- pocmloc, May 18 2022 Thought this said chicken cymbal helmet.
This idea isn't as good as that but [+] anyway.-- doctorremulac3, May 18 2022 Why is my body over there?-- Voice, May 18 2022 We had to re- bury it; the dog kept digging it up.-- pertinax, May 18 2022 This is all well and good, but why is it crossing the road?-- 2 fries shy of a happy meal, May 19 2022 Per [2], does this mean chickens don't have the neck strength to watch for traffic or even know they're crossing the road?
Likewise, why would anyone take a boat trip with their head locked in place? If they're not moving their head at all, wouldn't it be easier to add simple headlocks to boats?-- 4and20, May 19 2022 + This is a good idea and wondering if it would also work for people that are so very drunk that their head keeps spinning around.-- xandram, May 19 2022 random, halfbakery
