My new kitten has taken to sleeping in the tray of my printer...you know, the place where the paper is supposed to come out. ( I *can't* print anything now....I might disturb the kitten!)
One of my other cats sleeps on the shelf above my CPU tower. That would be the shelf where I used to keep reams of paper for my printer.
My third cat lays behind the monitor while I work.
Yes, it's a cozy Norman Rockwell scene. But, it could be *improved*.
Accessories: Paw Print Cat Tray -- another tray on the printer that does nothing but hold a small blanket for kitty
Top of the Tower Tray --- wide shelf-like top to CPU to be used as a cat perch
Monitor Cave Snuggle Room --- soft, plush cavelike enclosure that fits around your whole monitor and allows the cat to enter the space to hide for a small, late mid-morning snooze
and, heck, let's give them their own plastic mice to play with too....dangle them from the top shelf of the computer desk and watch the kitties *type* on the keyboard as they bat at the mice...-- runforrestrun, May 30 2002 Two Cats Mad http://www.halfbake...ea/Two_20Cats_20Mad [RayfordSteele, May 31 2002, last modified Oct 17 2004] Cat Community Network http://www.halfbake...Community_20NetworkThese ideas possibly complement each other. bliss, I told you, just rent a U-Haul, hop on the interstate and head south. I'll rent you a room for $450 month...includes all utilities and full access to cats, dogs, turtles, and AOL. Well, 3 out of 4 good things anyhow....
didn't you have an idea for "Office Cats"? It needs linked to this page....the office cats *need* these computer features!-- runforrestrun, May 31 2002 //Monitor Cave Snuggle Room //
Fine until your cat pees in it to mark territory...
Cat-biscuit for you-- yamahito, May 31 2002 really yam? I've never had a cat do such a thing. I put the new kitten in the litter box every 15 minutes the first day she was here and she's never had an accident.
My older male is neutered but my older female isn't spayed (10 years old and never had a litter of kits...no male access). Neither one has ever *marked* their territory....-- runforrestrun, May 31 2002 I have to admit, runfy, the only cat I've ever owned was pretty feral, and left to look after itself most of the time. Apparently, whilst I was away from home (I did some stints at boarding school), he would vanish for months. My parents would be planning the best way of informing me of his demise the week before my return when he would turn up all of a sudden. This happened many times, although not on the last occasion.-- yamahito, May 31 2002 My late-lamented senior cat used to sleep on top of the answering machine with her head pressed against the wall-wart transformer. (I guess the humming noise sounded like purring.) When I had to replace the TAM, she took to sleeping on top of the old top-loading VCR. One day, one of the other cats hit 'eject' and the cassette carrier lifted up and smacked her in the bum.Fish-flavoured croissant for you, [runf].-- angel, May 31 2002 Cats and fax machines don't mix. One of my cats shreds anything that appears through the fax - I think she sees it as a games machine that purrs and waves paper at her.-- drew, May 31 2002 Mine, "Dusty", jumps up on the desk and anticipating a tummy rub, flops down right on the keyboard. Here he comes n orbc jjb<Ä*PRAE)¨98-- FarmerJohn, May 31 2002 The Monitor Cave Snuggle Room sounds about as good for your screen as wrapping it in thermal insulation tape, especially if you've got a tremendous, ancient CRT that has a built-in gasoline engine and doubles as a space heater, like mine does.
Croissant, though, with the qualification that your accessories can also be used by invisible zebra-striped miniature dogs. <gives Alvin a quick pat on the stripèd head>-- jester, May 31 2002 Of course, I am compelled to vote for this. bliss, if you don't take rfr up on his offer, I just might.-- waugsqueke, May 31 2002 Oddly enough, the rotating message when I first came to this page was "Strap *THIS* to the back of your cat"-- barnzenen, May 31 2002 Loki, rest his soul, used to enjoy chasing the mouse pointer across my screen. Thank you all for sharing....keep going!-- runforrestrun, May 31 2002 bliss, does this mean I better get the beds set up in the extra rooms? :-) darn, I've been avoiding that task in favor of getting my books unpacked....well, it had to be done sooner or later, I'll get right on it. Actually, since I moved from Texas two months ago, I'm a lot closer to ya'll now ;-)
raisins and cantaloupes, UB? I may have to offer them some and see what happens. I have a dog that eats tomatos off the vines....-- runforrestrun, May 31 2002 some recipes say sultanas and raisins - whats the difference? UB must know.-- po, May 31 2002 raisins have very little authority.-- yamahito, May 31 2002 now *that* would be fun....
The house is big...just not that spooky with the happy heart/flower wallpaper (which WILL be replaced)
The problem with a sh*tload of cats is that there just aren't enough hours in the day to give them all the attention they need what with all the kissies and huggies and belly rubs and chin scratching and brushing the long-haired monsters...-- runforrestrun, Jun 01 2002 Cats also immensely enjoy Chili Cheese Fritos - I have no cats - my guppies (including the one that's 4 days old) won't hear of it.-- thumbwax, Jun 01 2002 one of mine likes soap - is this healthy?-- po, Jun 01 2002 My recently departed mega-cat liked chapattis or nan bread. Like, with a syringe?-- jester, Jun 02 2002 My cats like the pull-out keyboard tray - its the perfect size for them. They also like the fact that I'm sitting for a few hours so they can snooze on my lap without being disturbed.-- bluerowan, Jun 03 2002 Our late, lamented tortoise shell calico used to go bonkers for bran muffins.
Our current kitties are partial to canteloupe and lima beans.-- mwburden, Jun 04 2002 try giving them catfood, mwb. you may be pleasantly surprised :)-- po, Jun 04 2002 My sister's cat eats raw mushrooms.-- angel, Jun 05 2002 Baby Guppy litter now at 5 - more on the way-- thumbwax, Jun 05 2002 do you raise them to sell, thumbwax? I must admit to never having fish....I like them, but I just haven't gotten into them.
I must have *odd* cats....other than deli meat and ice cream, they really don't like *human* food. I tried the catalope thing last night and they ignored it. The kitten, however, has started a raisin hockey league....-- runforrestrun, Jun 05 2002 yep....cantalope eaten by cats is "catalope"
oh, no....jutta's gonna' send me to pseudodictionary.....-- runforrestrun, Jun 05 2002 My parents have a cat that has destroyed 4 monitors because he pees on top of the desk - one of the other cats is so territorial, he won't let poor Morgan of of the computer desk.
Perhaps, for cats like him, your idea could include a tiny litterbox. On top.
Baked goods for you.-- shapu, May 25 2004 Any idea about cats is pretty much a waste of time and energy. Actually, commenting about an idea about cats is even MORE a waste of time and energy.
Can I get this time back?-- bspollard, May 27 2004 I'll work on a functional time machine for ya.
Here's a preview: It's ferret-powered.-- shapu, May 27 2004 Only one problem: cats never sleep where they're supposed to. Give them special 'facilities' in their preferred napping area(s), and they'll just move on and find somewhere else awkward to kip.
Mine would, anyhow.-- sethrd, Jun 04 2004 Phoebe's our human-food kitty. I once held out a bit of horseradish to her, just to see how she'd respond. She inhaled it and licked the remnants off my hand, then proceeded to smack and snuffle for the next five minutes.-- Tabbyclaw, Oct 10 2004 hey runfy. I wish I could tell you about this mad cat that has adopted me and terrorises my own cats. what a dilemma! no matter how many buckets of water that I throw over her - she is here night and day. whats spooky is that she is the image of the cat that I lost in the spring and she sits on the same ledge.
I need a cat psychologist badly and I miss you so much!-- po, Oct 11 2004 ditto, and ditto.-- blissmiss, Oct 11 2004 -- po, Oct 11 2004 Great link, half, and even better, jutta's. (Still missin ya, forrest.)-- blissmiss, Mar 23 2005 Both of our cats ate very hot, spicey buffalo wings last night, whilst watching the Super Bowl. waugs and I had tears in our eyes, and sniffling, but the two of them just kept on. No beer, no water, cream, no nothing. (Oh and bris, I was cheering so much for your home town, sorry.)
Wow, most of his ideas were lost in the great crash. What a pity.-- blissmiss, Feb 07 2006 Cantalope for sure, but only one of the herd will touch it. And she (Cleo) whines while I cut it, as if she's starving to death waiting for her treat. She was very upset when we replaced the monitor (which maybe she killed?) with a new one that didn't have as flat a top. For days she tried to find a comfortable napping position on the slanting top before giving up in disgust.
A sadly departed cat of ours would steal Goldfish crackers, and another loved french fries.-- gardnertoo, Feb 02 2007 Putting a sheet of fly paper anywhere that you don't want the cat to sleep always works well. 8.5 x 11 sheets of label paper works too.-- Jscotty, Feb 02 2007 Nice idea from a nice person.-- doctorremulac3, Sep 11 2022 random, halfbakery
