Cakehenge   (+15, -1)  [vote for, against]
Dessert Worship

Cakehenge encompasses so much more than cake, but the name was chosen for its simplicity. There are many kinds of desserts represented in this bigger-than-life monument. Pure chocolate monoliths, gigantic brownies, (with and without nuts), cream layered trifles as large as a car, pie a la mode served in a gondola, and wedding style layered cakes that one can climb on. All of these have been coated in a heavy glaze of preservative, which makes them impervious to the elements or to the touch.

Worshippers are given pieces of their most honored dessert when they visit the Gingerbread House Temple. One can purchase the Baked Scriptures that comes complete with edible pages between the recipes, for sampling and comparing.

[xandram, Sep 28 2006]

Eat, savour, remember http://www.retrofoo...m/bristol_cake.html
Her memory lives on. [Canuck, Sep 28 2006]

I may steal that idea for a party!
-- Galbinus_Caeli, Sep 28 2006

Sounds like somebody may have low blood sugar, [xandram]. You might want to take care of that by eating this bun. + (A bun for any idea that honours desserts )
-- NotTheSharpestSpoon, Sep 28 2006

[NTSS] How did you know I was a diabetic? Anyway, I crave desserts more since I became one.

[G_C] as long as I'm invited!
-- xandram, Sep 28 2006

suddenly I yearn to be a druid.
-- po, Sep 28 2006

//How did you know I was a diabetic?//

I sensed your diabeticness in the ether, as I too, also am what they would, if they could talk, call a, as you so eloquently put, a diabetic.
-- NotTheSharpestSpoon, Sep 28 2006

What [G_C] said.
-- Shz, Sep 28 2006

I take it Piehenge was a flop?
-- 2 fries shy of a happy meal, Sep 28 2006

Pies are for models of the lake district.
-- Galbinus_Caeli, Sep 28 2006

Ah, Biscui the Nge. Good old Biscui.
-- wagster, Sep 28 2006

so [phlish] Beerhenge or Pizzahenge for you?

I had actually attempted a sketch for this, but that didn't work out. Willie Wonka didn't have a 'henge... of desserts. (see link for henge)
-- xandram, Sep 28 2006

rather than desserthenge....

evidently I should have also said that I am diabetic...rather than I am a diabetic.

(the word 'diabetic' is both a noun and an adjective)
-- xandram, Sep 28 2006

I understand Fruithenge drew quite the wrong crowd when the IGLTA got wind of it.

I'll bun this if we could have a corner of Cakehenge set aside for quiet remembrance, featuring the cake in the link.
-- Canuck, Sep 28 2006

I don't see why not [Canuck] There can be personal altars around for private rememberances.
-- xandram, Sep 28 2006

if you wager on a pile of stones and they fall over, what's that called?

Don't henge yer bets ! (+ for anything henged)
-- xenzag, Sep 28 2006

(+) The only thing I really wish is that the henges themselves be edible. I would hate to have to look at all that without eating. (It's not the same when the tour-guide hands you a pre-portioned "sample"). Mmmmmm chocolate henge without a fork....mmmmm.
-- ionsfromzion, Sep 29 2006

you could present sacrificial offerings of easter bunnys on important astrological dates.

edit: chocolate rabbits of course. And maybe some gummy goats.
-- wongmeister, Sep 29 2006

//evidently I should have also said that I am diabetic...rather than I am a diabetic.//

Either/ or. Depending on the weight of the disease at the moment I am 'a' diabetic or I have diabetes. Whatever- a few more years and we'll have the thing licked. Till then, give me the desserts and I'll shoot up for it!
-- NotTheSharpestSpoon, Sep 29 2006

I love all the ideas. I thought of making the monument edible, but you know the story about someone who left the cake out in the rain...

[NTSS] I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes (formerly known as Juvenille diabetes) at an older age, rare and unknown circumstances...
-- xandram, Sep 29 2006

//...at an older age, rare and unknown circumstances...//

Around 18-20, perhaps?
-- NotTheSharpestSpoon, Sep 29 2006

I imagine you will find out soon at the NE 'Baker's halfCon...sshhh.
