Anybody ever fall asleep on a night bus and end up in the bus depot? It's a shame we can't rely on the good will of bus drivers to wake us up when we reach our stop. A shame, but not a disaster because your mobile phone should be able to do it for you. Just text the postcode or bus stop name for your destination and the number of the bus to bus stop alert. Then your approximate location is tracked as you slumber peacefully. A couple of minutes before you reach your stop, the nice people at Bus stop alert can give you a ring to wake you up. So useful it must exist already. What's the number somebody?-- jamieb, Jul 16 2003 WakeUpLand.com http://www.wakeupland.com/Here you go, the number is 1-866-256-2563 [netmanakre, Oct 04 2004] Automatic Commuter Waker http://www.halfbake..._20Commuter_20Wakerhalfbaked already by [MrTheRich] [krelnik, Oct 04 2004] Bus transport http://www.halfbake...dea/Bus_20transportalso halfbaked by [rayfo] [krelnik, Oct 04 2004] just be grateful that you were not in a train and shunted off into a cold, dark, eery siding for the night.

Gr8t fr trsts who don't know where things are.-- neilp, Jul 16 2003 I don't want a tryst with someone who doesn't know where things are located.-- po, Jul 16 2003 Or falls asleep before he gets to the destination?-- FarmerJohn, Jul 16 2003 quite.-- po, Jul 16 2003 We've already halfbaked some very similar ideas, see links.-- krelnik, Jul 16 2003 sorry [po] trsts = tourists. (My brother once fell asleep on a train and woke up in Colchester; went back to work on same train next morning, not going home).-- git, Jul 16 2003 On the buses in germany one is alerted to the fact that the vehicle is nearing a busstop by an audible announcement:
KLONG! Nächste Bushaltestelle, Arnulfsplatz or some such.
It is very loud and very annoying if you're trying to have a snooze but a least is said in a calm, gentle voice to appease all the busnutters.-- squeak, Jul 17 2003 random, halfbakery
