Built-in fairy lights   (+12)  [vote for, against]
Not just for Christmas

As standard for new homes. As each layer of mortar is spread atop rows of bricks strings of fairy lights are inserted between each brick along the row, leaving the bulbs poking out. The wiring is retained in the air gap and when the house is complete, the final fix connects the strings to the power supply. Partytime anytime.

Scaffolding_20With_20LEDs use this while it's under construction [xenzag, Jul 22 2012]

This is pretty and I love it. Invite your friends over every night.

Will the lamps be individually addressable?

O, lamp, you glow so bright. If only the other hundred-odd were not equally bright, you would surely stand out! Yes, you, thirty-second along near the floor!

Just think how popular you would be with the neighbors!

[+] Fiber optic lights might be more appropriate for this application so that there would be only one bulb to service vs. chipping out the mortar every time an LED fails.
