I was at a bar last night watching the Super Bowl. In my semi drunken state it occured to me that the real star was the ball! so i wondererd why not just have a ball cam inserted into the ball and see it jump from hand to hand, hand to crotch and foot to huge fork!-- nomadic_wonderer, Feb 02 2004 In ball telemetry http://www.halfbake..._20Ball_20TelemetrySimilar but without pictures [DenholmRicshaw, Oct 04 2004] "Rugby close to 'ballcam'" http://news.bbc.co....y_union/1668200.stm [Monkfish, Oct 04 2004] Concert Cam http://www.halfbake.../idea/Concert_20Cam [django, Oct 04 2004] See the receiver getting bigger and bigger as he spins round and round. I'd retch with every long pass.-- DonBirnam, Feb 02 2004 sp: American, jump
You'd have a hell of a time getting a clear, stable picture ... and I'll bet the quarterbacks would have a say about its feel too ...-- Letsbuildafort, Feb 02 2004 LBF thanks for bringing that to my attention. Maybe I was still in a semi drinken state when i wrote it!-- nomadic_wonderer, Feb 02 2004 drinken? ....-- nomadic_wonderer, Feb 02 2004 spiral = vomit.-- yabba do yabba dabba, Feb 02 2004 Two cameras, one at each end; picture could be stabilized by electrinic means for those weak stomachs. As the ball follows its trajectory cameras occasionally focus on some faces in the audience.-- kbecker, Feb 02 2004 [DenholmRicshaw] but i though this idea was all about the picture. and I loved [kbecker]'s idea!-- nomadic_wonderer, Feb 02 2004 [blissmiss] I thought of that. but the VC's said they would not invest on dime unless there was some crotch action... so i bent!-- nomadic_wonderer, Feb 02 2004 The ball is usually oriented the same for every pass and run. Put the camera in the end that is pointing towards the catcher, or down the runner's path. Let it spin on some bearings, and attach some gyroscopes to give feedback to some electronics to keep it right side up. The whole thing is tucked away in the front of the ball, the back would have to be weighted for balance. Use a lighter skin to keep regulation weight.-- daseva, Jun 18 2004 Can be used in conjunction with the "Stadium Ball Cam".
See link.-- django, Jun 18 2004 //The ball is usually oriented the same for every pass and run.//
WWWWHaaaat? Having played the Tailback position, I can tell you that if there would be a lense in either end of the ball (or both), It would show nothing during a running play.
You must put one point of the ball between your bicep and your pect and the other end must be very tightly gripped by your hand. If you don't do this, you will fumble.(well, maybe you won't, but as a running back you shouldn't gamble in this way). Even If you do do this, you can fumble if you are not holding tight enough, or get hit hard enough.
In critical situations, You hold the ball with a hand on each end and tuck the hands between your biceps and your chest. You hold it like it is the last thing on earth keeping you alive, because there are people beating the hell out of your arms and ball trying to make you drop the thing.-- Zimmy, Apr 08 2006 If I seem emotional about that, It's because I, in the arrogance of youth, pulled the Heisman pose on the last guy between me and the end zone one time. I stiff-armed the defender to the ground, yes. It's just that as he was going down, he punched the hell out of my arm and the ball & it came out. I hope no one has a recording of that. Funny as just before that happened I was hoping that someone, anyone had recorded such a brilliant run.-- Zimmy, Apr 08 2006 random, halfbakery
