Auto-Adjusting Motorcycle Armor   (+3)  [vote for, against]
Optimal fit and protection with the push of a button.

Here in Texas, there are an awful lot of people that refuse to ride with more than a motorcycle helmet, jeans, and a t-shirt. I've a feeling that one of the many reasons may be the cumbersome nature of current motorcycle jackets. I love my jacket, but I will admit that it's a pain in the neck to adjust straps and zippers everytime I put the jacket on or take it off. This is done to ensure that the armor pads stay in place and don't shift around in the event of a motorcycle accident, but the ritual gets old after a while.

Imagine a motorcycle jacket that you only have to adjust once to fit your body perfectly. Every other time that you put the jacket on after that, you simply press a button on the sleeve and it tightens around your body for a perfect fit and armor placement and you press the button again in order to loosen the jacket and thereby making it easier to remove.

The same sort of technology could be applied to armored motorcycle pants and tracksuits.

Um. I think you added an extra negative in there. You mean people who refuse to ride in MORE than .....

Thanks! Fixed it.

I like the idea of bicycle break calipers applied to this concept. Maybe a ratchet handle on your thigh with a velcro flap to cover it. Feel how it is shaping up and adjust it before you put your final cinch. I have no experience with such jackets. Is this something that is on your legs?

Jackets like that have straps and zippers around the waist of the jacket and on the sleeves in order to adjust how close it fits to the body and how effective the armor would be in the event of a crash.

Short of tailor-made like for the pros, are you describing RTW (Ready-To-Wear)? While it doesn't solve the perfect fit now and forever query, for best performance - Google up: Astrosorb Astrosene

It sounds like something out of RoboCop, but they did it with ski bindings, so who knows?

//one of the many reasons may be the cumbersome nature of current motorcycle jackets// If you have a $10 head, buy a $10 helment. I prefer to think of this as evolution in action.

It's also baked [link]. I have one and there are only three zippers (one in the front and one on each sleeve at the wrist.)
