I was eating a sliced apple the other day, and it occured to me that when you dry out apples, they become very durable. Why not slice up a bunch of apples (into thin slices), dry them, and then sew them all together? Granted, you probably wouldn't be able to wash your Apple Leather jacket in water, but you can't do that with regular leather anyway! You could dye the material any way you want, and you're not killing cows.
