Annotations often refer to the numeric score of an idea, making the annotations almost immediately obsolete.
These macros would allow such annotations to be timeless.
Thanks, AO-- theircompetitor, Mar 25 2004 That's the least of our problems with annotations, methinks.-- DrCurry, Mar 25 2004 <#fish> fish and counting.-- Worldgineer, Mar 25 2004 well, glancing at that HalfBakery category above, at least it's an open minded crowd-- theircompetitor, Mar 25 2004 All ideas that fall in the general "What a great site, now let's change it!" area tend to get a poor reception, for obvious reasons.-- DrCurry, Mar 25 2004 you heard the one about the dynamic web?-- theircompetitor, Mar 25 2004 Their your have a point the fact that annotations and possibly votes vanish uponm deletion of an account means various orphaned comments that appear irrelevent upon later veiwing-- engineer1, Mar 26 2004 What's the point of this? So you can write "This idea's really crap it's got # fish and only # croissants" when it's got 2 fish and 1 croissant, and then a year later it says "This idea's really crap it's got 3 fish and only 247 croissants" and everybody thinks you're innumerate and generally stupid and they throw rocks at your house and try to sell you volcano insurance. That is the point of this idea, isn't it?-- kropotkin, Mar 26 2004 glad you guys weren't working on Javascript, we'd still be using nand gates :)-- theircompetitor, Mar 26 2004 What kropotkin said.-- DrBob, Mar 26 2004 In fairness, perhaps this idea could be salvaged by using dynamic automatic annotations. E.g. "If (fishbones>croissants) write('This idea really sucks and I think the poster should die') else write ('This idea is really brilliant and I want to pay to put this into production')" That way you wouldn't need to have an opinion at all.-- kropotkin, Mar 26 2004 [kropotkin] It's probably pointless to point out that ideas put in this category already get this pavlovian reaction?-- theircompetitor, Mar 26 2004 Actually, I'm betting that it rings Pavlovian Whistle Cellphones-- theircompetitor, Mar 26 2004 Personally, I like seeing what the idea was like years ago, so I have to fishbone it.-- dbmag9, Aug 13 2005 random, halfbakery
