These beautifully engineered roller-skates (or quad-skates as they now seem to be known) have a few small modifications. On the outside of each boot, a circular hole about two inches in diameter has been cut out of the fabric to reveal the wearers anklebone (not the bone itself, obviously), and above and below the ankle are metal cuffs running all the way around the boot. Mounted to the two cuffs just over the hole is is a small assembly comprising a miniature felt-tip pen and a tiny brass spirograph set with interchangeable wheels. The spirograph itself is powered by a tiny chain drive connected to the rear axle of the skates, geared extremely low. As the skater moves, their ankle is gradually adorned with beautiful hypotrochoids and epitrochoids.
On the underside of the skates are clips holding alternative spirograph wheels and different colour felt tips so you can add to the design mid-journey. The deluxe version has an led downlighter on the mechanism so that you can amaze and enthral night-time passers-by with your ankle art.-- wagster, Apr 05 2020 Spirograph https://www.youtube...watch?v=B6tXe7Qkb_wFor the uninitiated [wagster, Apr 05 2020] Distinctly weird, and notably Steampunk, but a croissant for using the euphonious // hypotrochoids and epitrochoids //.-- 8th of 7, Apr 05 2020 A wonderful idea from the most excellent wagster. Great to see you back again. Maybe I'll hang around a little longer now. [+]-- xenzag, Apr 05 2020 Beautiful indeed. (I thought this was one of yours xen. I forgot that wags was here again.) Yay.-- blissmiss, Apr 05 2020 Conceptually and artistically stunning but this will need a very very special felt-tip holder.-- wjt, Apr 07 2020 "felt tip" ?
No, no, a sharpened - probably hollow - stylus is needed for subcutaneous injection of the pigment.-- 8th of 7, Apr 07 2020 I did consider making this a tattoo idea, but I thought that would be too silly. I obviously need to get back on my game.-- wagster, Apr 07 2020 There should be some sort of inertial input mass lever--for tight turns and spins the patterns become more complex.-- RayfordSteele, Apr 07 2020 Sounds like an application for tiny brass-and-steel gyroscopes.-- 8th of 7, Apr 07 2020 And a mechanism to adapt to a, human distributed shape, working muscular appendage. There's going to be some overwriting.-- wjt, Apr 07 2020 And pain, of course. Pain is important ; it reminds you you're alive ...-- 8th of 7, Apr 07 2020 // it reminds you you're alive ..//
Do you occasionally forget? That would explain a few things.-- AusCan531, Apr 11 2020 We used the second person, "you". We do not include ourselves in that, as there is no requirement.-- 8th of 7, Apr 11 2020 random, halfbakery
