ABS Light   (+1)  [vote for, against]
Emergency braking alert

When you are braking in an emergency, they guy behind may not have the reactions to apply _full_ pressure to his own brakes as slam on the brakes to avoid hitting a stroller or child in the road.

The solution is an extra-bright brake light which flashes and displays a huge red "ABS" sign in the rear window. It is set off whenever the ABS is set off or very hard breaking pressure is applied.

The system also triggers the horn for additional warning.

A less-than-descriptive title for a similar idea. [phoenix, Oct 04 2004, last modified Oct 05 2004]

The screech of brakes followed by the sound of a horn, add in the sound of braking glass and you have the sound of the accident that didn't happen.

A good piece of advice to use is drive as though there is someone stopped round every corner.

That's useful if you have a backwards-facing horn :)

Lots of New Cars (more than likely to be shipped with ABS as standard) have automatic Hazard lights if you do any erratic breaking. Horns just distract the other drivers in front and would cause more crashes.

Yeah, I think new BMW's have pressure sensitive break lights. The harder you hit the pedal, the more intense the lights are in back.
