Video tapes that are 3 hours long sometimes miss off the end of the film. If a film is 3 hours long you set the video to start recording 5 minutes before the film is due to start but then the last 5 minutes are missing.
Have video tapes which are 3 hoards and 5 minutes long to avoid missing off the first or last 5 minutes.-- Fireraven, Oct 09 2001 Video cassette record time. http://www.pueblo.g...c/tape/tapecare.txtSearch in page for 'different speeds' [phoenix, Oct 09 2001, last modified Oct 04 2004] Standard Tape Sizes http://www.westerndisc.com/blank.htmlduh [thumbwax, Oct 09 2001, last modified Oct 04 2004] I've never seen a 3-hour video tape. Mine are all 2-hour SP, 4-hour LP, 6 hour EP, ELP and SLP. Mind you, both the recorder and the player have to know how to do LP, EP, ELP and SLP.-- phoenix, Oct 09 2001 please tell us more about the kangaroos dressed in butcher's uniforms hopping by talking on telephones,Rods-- technobadger, Oct 09 2001 These videos would still have to say "3 hours" on the packaging, otherwise, you'd only go using them for films that are 185 minutes long, and end up missing the end of them.
So maybe this is baked, and you just don't know it. <Twilight Zone music>-- pottedstu, Oct 09 2001 Having processed and sold millions of videotapes worldwide, I too can assure you such tapes do exist. what you want is T-180, and don't try to stuff 100 pounds of mud in a 50 pound bag. The tapes are - as Rods pointed out - wound with extra time available.-- thumbwax, Oct 09 2001 I missed the last 5 minutes of the Deer Hunter because the video tape ran out. I still haven't seen it, does anyone know what happens?-- stupop, Oct 10 2001 He led all the other deer to safety, and they all lived happily ever after. (Good film; I though Flower the skunk was really cute.)-- angel, Oct 10 2001 Here in the UK most blank tapes are 3hours long. Maybe the tapes would be better for serial programs. You could tape six 30min episodes without the fear of missing the end.-- Fireraven, Oct 10 2001 random, halfbakery
