This is a 3D scanner that consists of the following:
A containment glove box
Black gloves with white fluorescent paint dots (so the cameras can measure them more acurately)
A matrix of cameras inside the box aimed at the gloves
A software that could coordinate data from the cameras to create a 3D image of what the hands are doing
Software that could do the equivalent of 3D "rounding off" so that the resultant virtual clay in the computer would act like a relatively simple lump of clay.
An intuitive interface is what will bring 3D printing into the real mainstream. Even with systems like TinkerCAD out there, it is not simple enough for real buy-in.-- JesusHChrist, Mar 27 2014random, halfbakery
